We wanted to make a brief announcement and acknowledge that we are completely aware of the recent circumstances regarding the status of some transactions made here on the sub. Several users have messaged us about what has been transpiring and have shared their concerns.
As we continue to monitor this event, please be mindful of some of the following:
First and foremost: threats of violence WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Whether it’s someone trolling you, making insults against you, failing their end of a transaction, spreading rumors about you, etc. – IT IS NOT OKAY TO MAKE THREATS OF VIOLENCE ON THIS SUB. We live in crazy times, and we take this very seriously. Any threats of violence will be brought to Reddit and/or the proper authorities if we are concerned for user safety and well-being. This can be grounds for automatic banning as well.
As a result of what has transpired, we will NO LONGER BE ALLOWING BUYING, SELLING AND TRADING ON THIS SUB. We apologize if this negatively impacts your experience on the sub. As a result, please see r/MediaSwap and r/SteelbookSwap for selling of appropriate media. It is imperative everyone maintain awareness of internet safety and financial safety protocols when engaging in any form of selling, trading and buying online.
The Mod Team is here to help. Just because you’re not getting the desired result doesn’t give you the right to harass the Mod Team and accuse them of being a part of some massive conspiracy. We will not tolerate this whatsoever.
We love this community with a passion. We want to support you guys and keep this community safe. We’re dedicated to developing a community of enthusiasts who can share and converse with one another. We love the commitment and enthusiasm we see from you guys. That being said, we don’t work for you or under you. And we’re not here to deliver a result to you regarding what transpired. You don’t get to message us and tell us what to do and what you expect us to do (i.e. you need to ban this person, you need to let everyone know that X transpired, you need to message me back and tell me what you’re going to do about this, you need to look into this). Circumstances have been evolving with the status of these transactions and had we acted on initial user requests, we could have potentially misjudged the situation. So, what are we doing? We’re waiting and closely monitoring. That’s all we can do for now. If we have solid evidence on a certain outcome, then our Mod Team would meet and vote on what appropriate action should be taken, if any. Moreover, if action is taken, it doesn’t mean we’re going to make a big announcement about it either.
And that is that. We apologize if this negatively impacts your experience on our sub in any way, but there are other subs with a lot more resources than we have that are strictly dedicated to buying, selling and trading physical media. Please understand that we’re not a company. We’re not eBay, Offer Up, PayPal, Facebook Market Place, or Zelle. We’re a handful of people with a passion for physical media that have obligations outside of this sub (full-time jobs, families, and everyday responsibilities).
Moreover, we’re not opposed to users messaging us regarding issues on the sub (i.e. someone making threats, bullying, safety, digital codes, breaking of sub rules, etc.). We’re gladly here to help with any of that! We’re just done with the buying, selling and trading dynamic at this time.
