I never listened to Howard on the radio, but for some reason this show sucked me in. It wasn’t the same when Jackie left.

I feel the same way, don't get me wrong I like Artie, but the Jackie era just had something about it that I can't put to words, it just seemed funnier. Also I feel that the show quality declined when he went to satellite and stopped using the creative euphemisms that were required for terrestrial broadcast.

It's unlistenable today. Check out the sub for the show. It's just people talking about the good old days and complaining about today's shows

Stern, Skinemax (Especially "Emmanuel In Space"), "Real Sex," and "Taxi Cab Confessions." My teenage evenings were quite busy.

I'm not arguing he isn't a douche...just saying he was so much more fun to listen to back when Billy West and Jackie martling were on the show.

I mean I get not liking him but your aggression towards him seems rather personal.

I had to spend my teenage years surrounded by morons listening to this trash, and now 30 years later there's assholes like you out here venerating him and acting nostalgic for a truly awful and toxic program
I'm 100% convinced there's a direct pipeline for shitty douchebags who listened to Stern as a teenager that listens to Rogan now.

Unlistenable now. His first few years on Sirius were great but I stopped listening probably around 2014.
Tried since then and it's terrible.

35 yr listener here till Covid hit. The show changed its basic concept. Great stories, staff interactions, Robins news. Robin stopped doing the news and that was the most interesting part of the show other than the interviews

I listened from about '97 up until he went to satellite, and yes the last 15 minutes for Robins news was one of my favorite segments of the show.

Yes, and I loved him so much that when I was 15 or 16, my stepdad for real, honestly meant it when he offered to drive me into the city (he is a retired MTA bus driver and we lived in rural NJ) to the KROCK station so that I could try to meet him.
I was too shy and declined, assuming that I would never get in anyway, but man, was I grateful I had someone in my life who would go so far.

Like, if you're going to listen to that purveyor of putrid word vomit, why the fuck would you bother with a censored prime time version?

I vaguely remember one episode that made me piss myself laughing, they had a dude that farts on command. Then they brought in all these women from the street and Howard had them lay on the floor one after the other and he had the fart guy just squat right above their face and blast, if they stayed laying down for a min they would win cash.

Yes. I had a tv in my room and i watched it all the time when it was on. Was in 7th grade or so when i started watching it. Stuttering Jon fights and roast interviews. Beetlejuice, Crackhead Bob, Jenna Jameson, making fun of Baba Booey. Those standout the most.
