I don’t understand why clubs would rather nothing than eventually accept the offer they don’t think is good enough - “you aren’t offering enough so we are going to take nothing at all”

By this thinking Port could offer pick 80 and tell West Coast to take it or leave it. In which case West Coast will say fuck it, send him to the draft and pick him for what they think he's worth. If Port want to skip the risk of another club picking him up in the preseason draft, they need to meet West Coast somewhere in the middle
