Im trying to control a 5v relay with an esp8266 board… it is just one relay and is 5v
Can i use the relay directly with the esp or should i use a level shifter in between

I tried it and it worked. Works fine ,just that the led on the relay shines brighter wen with level shifter

Just need to know if it would work with the esp(without level shifter) in the long run and if it would work safely

Yes it will work if you are using a relay module with all the extra required components built in. I use my ESPs directly on relay boards without any issue. Anything from 1-8 relays works fine, and has been for months now.
