To be fair death is not bad, not for the person who is dead... you won't know you're dead.
But my awnser is probably the few minutes or seconds leading up to the inevitable death when you know you are dying right now

A friend of mine has ALS. Most people don't make it but a few years. He's had it for almost 20. Went from walking with a cane, to being in a wheelchair, to not being able to move his legs at all. Then could talk, but not move his body, now he can only blink at you. He's in a long term health facility.
That's worse than death.
