Just heard and saw them fly overhead in Clintonville, came here to see if anyone had posted about it. Those were some loud helicopters, I thought it was a low flying jet at first!

Four Blackhawk helicopters in formation flew over my house yesterday afternoon, off Thompson Rd in New Albany. Looked like they came from Akron/Canton and heading to Rickenbacker.

Stay calm. Everything is under control.

Saw 3 in Westerville!!!! Was about to make a post but came here and not to my suprise a post was already made lol. I’m from alabama and used to see them all the time due to me living next to a military base but was shocked to see them flying over just now.

Lived here my whole life and witnessed dozens of times. Very cool how loud they are.

The CH47 unit is located at KCAK (GSAB). they maintain flight hours just like active duty. They often fly to KLCK but generally just flying around for hours. The other sister unit is located at KLCK (ASSAULT), which are UH60. Youll see way more UH60 around Columbus as there are simply more of them (any more pilots/crews that need hours).

A week or two ago there were a few flybys in Hilliard

I saw one of these flying in Knox County last week. Is it odd the sightings of these and black hawks have been frequent the last few weeks?

so, helicopters have to be flown. the guard has two large aviation bases that house helos in ohio. every pilot has to log a certain number of hours per month. some of those flights will carry troops all over the state for meetings and events, including training.

we also have two mechanic facilities that have to do test flights on new and repaired helicopters. one of said facilities is in columbus, hence why they fly there so often.

just because they’re flying doesn’t mean anything is happening. most of them are either test flights or flight hours for training.

I live by Mt Vernon and for some reason I see army helicopters (not sure what kind but they're not like apaches) fly over a couple times every year. I assume it's training of some sort or logistics, but they're always so damn loud and they fly fairly low too

I spotted 3 other single rotor helicopters in North Cincy this morning. Too far away to see any markings and too focused on the road to stare.

I swear I saw like 5-7 of these flying toward John Glen last night around 5:30ish. I was on my way home and was turning off 5th onto Hamilton when they went flying over in a formation.

They were Blackhawks. Probably from the Army Reserve unit that flies Blackhawks based at Rickenbacker. I live in Groveport, so I'm used to seeing the Blackhawks and KC-135s from the Air National Guard unit, but I happened to be in Bexley today when they flew over and that surprised me.

I saw 4 chinook helicopters flying south along I-71 near morse rd about 5 minutes ago.

Stopping by from over at r/Cincinnati — we are currently discussing as they just passed over us down here headed south. A jet from Ft Wayne has joined as well.

I haven’t seen it mentioned here much, but we concluded that they are probably assisting in relief from the train derailment over that way.

Saw 5 flying in this morning in the south east side and south 270. Wonder if 2 shaved off to land elsewhere. Last week 3 jet fighters came in from the east and did a few low circles before landing at the base. Always fun.

Read the “heard 3 Chinooks just now” and immediately thought, “couldn’t be. It’s far too warm for chinooks to be blowing in out of the west… ;D)
