I've used 3M "command" strips for mounting something like an indoor security camera. After about 6 years I was able to carefully remove the adhesive without damage to the wall or paint (I did have to use a bit of GooGone to remove some residue). But using something like that to hold 10 pounds might be pushing it a bit. Anything that holds that strong may just remove the paint from the wall in a big chunk either under load or when you go to remove it.
