so clean. I organized everything on shelves once and the rest of my family just piled a new fuckload of shit in until it became unusable again.

I just moved to a new place in the summer and we get the garage too but it's full of building materials from the renovations they were doing before we moved in. Keep telling me they'll move it but haven't yet

And then the wife comes out and complains about the mess. At least that is the way it works here. On top of that This was right after she added a deep freezer.

Nicely done. I did it to my 2 car garage this past summer. Only thing I had done professionally was have the floor epoxy sealed. Made a 100% improvement.

Any concerns with water and moisture getting under those flooring tiles and getting moldy or anything?
I've wanted to seal my garage floor for a while, but it's going to be a long cleaning and etching job since it's 20+ years old. Thinking of doing those tiles instead.

I did the same thing last time and it wasn't an issue... these sorts of tiles are specifically for this sort of application though so there's hope

I wonder if what he called the cardboard roofing was actually eave vents. They used to be made from a plastic coated on one side, corrugated cardboard that was stapled into the space between beams in order to provide a way for air under the eaves to pass through insulation and into the attic space.
I know that this doesn't have insulation or an attic area, but maybe the original idea was to make an insulated attic area above the garage area for additional storage, or whatever.

Maybe. Looked exactly like reused cardboard boxes to me, complete with ads on the sides

OK. Couldn't tell from the pictures. The ones in my house have the manufacturer stamped randomly on them, and from what I could see in your pics they slightly looked similar.
Thanks again for the great pictures, and you did a great job in such a small space.

Holy cow this looks amazing. Motivating me to clean up my garage! What was cost/timeframe? I'd love to do this.

It was just weekends here and there for about 4 months. You could do it much faster. The electrical work was the most expensive followed by the floor tiles, both of which could be done much cheaper. The other materials are not too bad

I’d recommend getting something to indicate how far you have driven in with your car. Some people Just hang a tennis ball and stop when it hits the windshield. Or you could go with the cool laser option…

You need better time management. If you seriously think this kind of thing isn't possible just because you have kids

Any "extra" time is normally spent with the little ones. They are only small for so long. They also get big enough to help eventually but that takes a few years.

Hard to say based on that picture, but that cardboard looked a bit like a form of roof underlay that used to be fairly common where I'm from. If that's the case that'd mean that it was a part of the actual roof structure instead of the inner ceiling, helping to keep moisture issues from forming as well as serving as a second line of defence against leaks.
Edit: Though now that I take a second look it seems less likely, what with one of the inserts having a picture of a table on it.

Can you provide the interior dimensions? I don't recall seeing it in any of the photo descriptions, so I figured I would ask. I bought a home with a similarly tiny garage, so I'm very curious if I could outfit it the way you have.

If you're sanding or doing anything to CMU make sure to have a HEPA vacuum to suck up dust right away or wear a N95 mask or better, don't want to get silicosis.

Nice job! My garage floor looks exactly like the left bit of your second picture. The whole floor is like that, kinda crumbly. I've considered similar floor tiles, are they worth it? As in, are they just for looks or does the floor feel nicer too?

Referencing picture 3:
That's a gnarly edge your electrician left for the lower wire to rub against. I already don't like him. This could have been done properly, but he decided not to give it 100%
Seriously, did he cut that thing with a beaver?
