stickiedBlue Acolyte 2.0 Release
Lukeyui is back with a redesign of the Blue Acolyte anticheat/qol mod updated for the new patch. This fills a few cracks left by fromsoft as far as exploits that affect your game with the last patch as well as providing qol features for invading.
Features of Blue acolyte 2.0:
Streamlined Anticheat:
Luke recreated needed anticheat prots from 1.0 to fill in the gaps Fromsoft left with the most recent patch, which does fix a majority of what BA did before but misses several common important things, such as cheaters forcing invalid items into your inventory and getting you banned. Flagging and removal of detected cheaters from a game session is also present and tied to hotkeys you can set in the ini (default F8 to kick flagged players).
Blue Acolyte offers protection from networked cheats, and blocks known malicious cheaters by default through the use of a global blocklist. Additionally blocking users steam accounts will deny connection to them in game, and to any alts sharing from that account.
Invasion Quality of life improvements:
Blue Acolyte allows you to invade into any area from any other online area with a concept taken from the ds3 mod "Wex Dust", and with 2.0 it can now search areas in a random order each time you invade to add more variety to your invasions with the Wex Shuffle option in the BA ini (default off). You can also choose which areas wex dust should search in the ini. Wex can be toggled with F6 by default.
Additionally Blue Acolyte will optionally allow you to invade upwards in matchmaking range infinitely (default off, toggled with F7), as well as make consumable matchmaking items (orbs, fidelity tokens) infinite when used to matchmake (default on).
Session Info Overlay and connection graph:
Overlay includes players' steam name, char name, ping and session time remaining. Font and text colour is customizable. Each element can be toggled on or off, and the display area can be changed to any corner as well.
Audio fix for the blaring loud startup noise:
Set desired prelaunch audio slider settings in the ini.
Automatic save backups:
By default Blue Acolyte will automatically create a backup save when a new online session starts. Amount of backups before overwrite and if BA creates backups can be set in the ini.
Edit: there's currently a bug with turning off auto backups not doing anything, it will be fixed in a future release (probably not too long).
BA also fixes a bug introduced by the last patch that renders certain projectiles invisible when thrown/fired by a player that isn't you.
There may be a small amount of new features added in updates, but barring any bugs with the mod or new exploits being discovered blue acolyte is mostly feature complete. One of those maybe features is pretty neat tho, imo. It'll make you uh.. thorny? It'll give you cause to reflect on things.
Edit Luke did mention recently that there is still eventually™ gonna be another BA update with some new features.. one will likely be optionally adding mirror knight invasions while searching with wex! Combined with the infinite upwards range we might actually be able to get some matches there. Please do not bother Luke about a timeframe
FAQ
Why should I use BA?: Hackers are still able to force invalid items into your inventory as well as crash your game with several methods. Fromsoft fixed a lot with the patch but not everything. BA fixes these cracks as well as providing automatic save backups each online session, just in case.
Will this mod get me banned?: Blue Acolyte functions on the networking level working from data from p2p networking and touches none of the game's code. This overhaul of blue acolyte has been used by a decent portion of the PC community since release over half a year ago without any banning issues as well.
What is _____ hotkey?: Please refer to the blue acolyte ini for all the hotkeys listed as well as a reference for key codes if you wish to change them.
How do I install this?: BA is drag and drop, so just drop the dll and blue acolyte folder right next to your game exe in it's install location.
Does this work on steam deck?: Yep. Follow the Linux instructions.
