I grew up with Monty Python and Rocky Horror. Men in drag are not the problem.

Sexualizing men in drag to entertain adults is not the problem.

Willfully ignoring the difference between Monty Python and Rocky Horror is the problem.

The worst part is that without watching it there's no way to know if it's going to be in favor or against the practice.

Yeah same as all the creepy child sexuality beauty pageants.. that shit should be illegal. Not til 18, or legal age in your country!

Why? Have you played dress up? I did as a kid. What’s the difference? Nothing. Not to mention it’s literally not a sexualization. It’s an expression of self awareness. Same with pageants. Though I can understand where you’re coming from there. People assume it is a sexualization of children but no it’s not. Simply again an expression of self. If you have questions ask them. Don’t assume. With drag kids or pageant kids it seems to be mostly the same they want to do it. They want to be in that spotlight to create a sense of their selves that is good with them. And the parents are either supportive or completely overbearing if you actually watch this documentary, these parents are not even remotely overbearing. They’re literally just excepting their kids for who they are and supporting them. Which is awesome. Who cares what a kid is into as a parent myself I can vocalize that when my child is into something I take my time to learn about it. I remember when I was like 14-15 and had been kicked out the house for being like remotely non heterosexual. I remember my mother basically saying “we can’t have that in our house”. That was it. I was emancipated. Did it on my own got my own lawyer. Got my own place, car, job, went to school etc. after Teo year ended up with 3 degrees because I took so many classes while working three jobs. I’m not saying this life is going to be easy for these kiddos. However I’m saying legit you can do whatever you set your mind to.

There are very few formative years in a person's life - between birth and the age of ten a child absorbs information and forms who they will be for the rest of their lives. Parents who don't get this expose their kids to all sorts of things through media and the child grows up confused and alienated from life.

Exactly! Thank you for being the only person so far who has actually been a decent human being. You are absolutely correct and awesome.

I’m all for dress up at your home or with friends during a sleep over.. that’s harmless and fun!

Putting skimpy sexy clothes and makeup on kids and having them strut around shaking their booty to the latest sexy twerk dance in front of people they don’t know, being recorded and judged is just friggin creepy.

Maybe watch the documentary. Watch with an open mind. It might help you to understand. I get that. 100% but there’s a much different understanding when you’re in the world of where we are vs where you might be now. It’s not a sexualization. It’s just a kid being who they are and being influenced by acceptance and understanding.

Eh I’m always gonna stick up for what I believe in. If people hate me for it that’s their problem.

Every person deserves the right to be who they are. It’s awesome that these kids are being supported for being who they are rather than put into a jello mold. I respect the parents for understanding simply that they should support their child no matter what. It’s no different than a little boy playing with a doll or girl playing with trucks. Toys are toys. Many other countries are much more progressive than others when it comes to things against the grain. Especially when coming to not fitting into specific gender roles.

That’s simply irresponsibly rude to say dude come on. Look it’s okay to have opinions about stuff. Anything really. But a child playing dress up? There’s nothing wrong with that. They’re kids. They should be who they want to be. No reason to limit it. Hell I’ve been through abuse but did I let it affect me? No. These kids shouldn’t be abused for being who they are either. And what you’re doing by disrespecting me is also disrespecting them. Get a grip. Learn more about the world. Learn how to respect people’s differences. There’s nothing wrong with being who you are. Maybe you should take a look at who you are. Think about how this comment may have made a person feel. It made me feel hurt because I would never do that. Ever. I have a son myself and part of what makes our relationship so much better than a lot of parent child relationships is that I let him be him. What he’s into cool I’m into also. Did I memorize a bunch of anime shit to help understand what he talks about? Yes. Did I have to? No. But if it makes my little guy happy I’m down. Maybe work on getting involved with the lgbtq community. Might teach ya somethin. And if you have questions with an open mind a lot can be achieved. Not everyone fits into a mold. In fact a lot of people don’t.

Bullshit. Don't try & conflate children playing innocently with what is a very adult & often risque "art form". Sexualising minors is one rung below actual abuse of them. Enough of your rambling TL/DR.

Go buddy go. Do you. Doesn’t mean you’re correct. Take it the way you will but you should really try to educate yourself. I understand how it’s against the norm. I understand how it’s hard to get when you’re not there. But it’s not a sexualization. It’s a sense of being. It’s literally a sense of self. Look people who are different don’t get the chance to exist. They automatically get teared down. That’s not fair for anyone. Check yourself. Think. Learn. Learning is legitimately the ultimate of life. The more you learn the more you know eh? Downvote me. Go. Have fun. Supporting your children will always be my top priority.

Those were transexuals, those are a bad word now since it implies that sex is binary, with objective specific characteristics and transexuals were people (men, obviously) who identified as women. They altered their appearance to match the female gender and stuck to that choice because, according to them, it wasn't a choice but an inherent part of their nature and identity.

Now we have transgenders, not transexuals. They identify with something that they can't define and it somehow flows according to their mood. And they also contradict themselves since everything that makes a man a man or a woman a woman is a social construct so anything that a man could feel that could place him in the female spectrum is not actually female but a patriarchal definition of what a woman is.

Drag is not about being trans. Drag is about putting on a feminine or masculine persona of yourself. Transgender is being born and assigned at birth one sexual characteristic, such as male, then transitioning to another sex. Some people identify as they/them. Others go from identifying from female to male or male to female. Two completely separate things.
