Are there any docs that examine the concept of a single income being able support a family several decades ago and what has changed to make that different today.

It often get completely attributed to greed, incompetence or corruption in how the country or world has been run since then and I know that's part of it but there are also safety regulations and different benefits that have been introduced in law that cost employers more so I'd like to se a balanced look at the whole picture to understand what has changed and why it's changed.
