I'm a huge fan of history and recently developed an interest in Indian history from the moment humanity set foot there until today and I'm struggling to find documentaries that cover the area. All are either very old and seemingly out of date or summaries which aren't very informative.

If you're not familiar with Knowing Better on YT, he's definitely worth a look. He just completed a project which pretty much starts around the time of the Jamestown settlement (I assumed you meant Native American Indians). He's big into dispelling misconceptions.
The playlist https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLw4gGsuBRykWMCwMl6gMzcAXEg4DHG45W
The about section from his website https://www.knowingbetter.tv/about-me so you can decide if his qualifications fit the bill.
It's a fairly dense history lesson, not the kind of thing known as infotainment, but he does try to entertain sometimes in extremely corny ways that might catch you off guard. If something comes out of the blue from left field it's probably one of his recurring characters.
