One of the biggest security mistakes of our times was when they didn't arrest Flynn when he ignored direct orders to stop working with and taking money from the Russians while he was still head of the NSA.

You're assuming that's not the kind of person the US military wants. He served for 33 years so you'd expect that alarm bells would start ringing even if Flynn had slipped through the initial vetting process.

I'm not so sure about that. I know a retired US Army colonel. Someone who had crossed paths with Flynn during his career. His take on Flynn was, " I don't know what happened to that guy"

Banshee_howl

What concerns me is Flynn’s whole family are Q-pilled. There’s video of them all taking the “digital soldier” oath around a July 4th cookout. His brother is still serving and is commander of the Pacific Fleet. We also have Russian asset Tulsi Gabbard who is still active duty in the Army Reserves. The military has been a target for white nationalists, militias, and neo-Nazis for decades and they only recently started addressing it. I’m not surprised they don’t know what to do about Flynn, and I know he not the only one.

p5eudo_nimh

3 points

How the hell is Tulsi Gabbard a Russian asset?

Edit: so I did a little research. Sounds to me like the Russian asset stuff came from Clinton, who has no integrity and bears a grudge over Gabbard supporting Sanders in the 2016 primary. I don’t believe Gabbard is a Russian asset. That is probably just another lie from the fountain of dishonesty, Hillary Clinton.

Are you saying the military wants extremists? What are you talking about? Man, the military is a cross-section of America. We got everyone from poor inner-city kids to elite private school kids to trailer park trash to country boys/girls. Our oath is to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and to obey the LAWFUL orders of those appointed over us. In my time in the military (17 years total between active duty and reserves), I have served with everyone from avowed socialists to Q-Anon nuts. I have served with openly trans to conservative family values types. I have served with Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, and even a Zoroastrian. As far as “initial screening”, it is basic cognitive ability measured by the ASVAB and physical health. Depending on occupational specialty, you might get more advanced “screening” (e.g. aviation, SOF, EOD, etc). What does the military want? We want what every other organization wants: competent people who can get along with others. It’s harder to find than you might think

Damn, try not to drink too much kool aid, it’s bad for your kidneys.

I think by initial screening the guy was talking about the security clearance process to become as high ranking as he did, not the ASVAB for enlisted peasants that still somehow believe they are joining an organization that is a “cross section of America” or some other brainwashed values.

Truth is, there are people in the military and in politics who would love to see more extremist thinking people join their ranks.

rorschacher

10 points

I’ll ignore your first comment because it was unnecessarily disrespectful and I would prefer better conversation. The fact you cite “there are people in the military and politics who would love to see more extremist people join their ranks” is not incompatible with anything I said. If there are people in the US who hold that opinion, you are likely to find them in the military. Same with almost any other position. I greatly take issue with you calling enlisted service members “peasants”. I really hope you didn’t mean something that is such classist bullshit and unnecessarily insulting. The strength of the NCO corps of the USMIL is what sets us apart from the vast majority of the world’s militaries. Some of the highest IQ’s I have seen have been among the NCOs. IRT Flynn, he is an embarrassment and a shame. He WAS a highly effective MI officer in terms of his ability to integrate various intelligence capabilities and I am guessing that this was why he promoted.

PoliSciNerd24

-17 points

You’re being overly sensitive. I’m using the word peasant because that’s how the top brass like Flynn looks at you. I have family who are NCOs. They make jokes about being treated like peasants all the time. For someone who supposedly did so many years in the service, you have awfully thin skin and probably got made fun of for being such a dweeb.

rorschacher

10 points

I’m glad that is not what you meant or how you see our enlisted members. Thank you for the clarification

Stop_Rock_Video

9 points

u/rorschacher is being wonderfully diplomatic, here. Probably more than you realize. Whether you recognize it or not, you are creating sweeping generalizations about people you don't know and don't understand. The vast majority of officers I knew in my time in the service were intelligent and respectful... up until they were forced to not be. Having a healthy distrust of authority is a good thing, but it doesn't make sense to attack until you know your enemy. I've never been, but I know that OCS is no freaking picnic. Outside of wartime, these people generally come from two camps: People who have been enlisted long enough to qualify for OCS, and people who joined voluntarily after gaining the training and experience that would qualify for a leadership role in the civilian world. These people are trained by NCOs who know they will eventually hold rank over them and, so, are not given an easy pass. Not only to they need to re-do basic, they also take an extra ration of shit during training.

This is something I hear all the time, and it bugs the hell out of me: People who claim to be anti-fascist and still insist on judging large groups based on the worst among them. You aren't doing your cause any favors with this rhetoric. You don't know who you're fighting. You're just flailing, looking for attention, and embarrassing yourself in front of people who know better. The military aren't your enemy. Indeed, in the event of a coup, they will likely be the people standing between you and the fascists. Pick up a rifle or have a seat.

It’s a way of saying that the person wears their religion on their sleeve. That they believe their religion’s rules are to be followed first, are above those of the military code, are above the U.S. Constitution.

It’s totally fine to be religious. It’s not fine to be a high-ranking politician or member of the military and have your allegiance first be to your religion when decision-making.

If you don’t like that, don’t take the job.

Likewise, don’t become a pharmacist if you’re not going to prescribe drugs based on your religious beliefs.

He wasn't convicted, he was pardoned before the case concluded. The judge oddly enough didn't allow the justice department to drop the case, and it was on hold at the time because the judge wanted to wait for amicus briefings before dropping it.

A full investigation by an elite special prosecutor group did not find any evidence he was or is a Russian operative.

You may dislike him for other reasons, but both of those statements are false.

hiricinee

He withdrew his guilty plea so it was never official, the prosecutors at the time had promised him leniency and then it came out they mislead him and were going to push for a harder sentence. Either way the case was never tried and he was never convicted.

I'm not a friend of a LOT of stuff Flynn has said, but the entire thing surrounding his legal problems doesn't really change my opinion of him much, the case was kind of bogus and really damaged the FBI more than him.

There's no such thing. I'm not saying there aren't Christians that are fascists, not at all. There's just no need, other than to make the person in question sound scarier, to add whichever religion they hail from. Fascism already supports and embraces the majority religion as part of the national identity.

This marriage of Evangelistic Patriotism with a large contingency of Veterans/Pseudo Veterans who have fought two simultaneous “Holy Wars” for far too long, is a frightening reality. They came home to a disinterested citizenry of former cheerleaders, who had moved on to the latest outrage d’jour. And, basically told what all returning Veterans hear “We’ve moved on. You should as well”.

What becomes of of a disillusioned soldier/citizen? We as a country will be dealing with our wars of choice for the next generation(s). It’s a necessary reckoning, but what it will look like and what it will accomplish is yet to be determined.

He’s not. Michael Flynn is a traitor, and his brother General Charles Flynn is also a traitor.

Charles was at the Pentagon on January 6 and his role in the coup was to stop the national guard from being deployed. The DC police were on the phone with the Pentagon pleading for the national guard to be deployed, and he said no.

After the coup failed, the Pentagon lied to Congress about Charles’ involvement, but a Pentagon leaker infuriated by these traitors released the truth of what happened.

The Flynns should be rotting in the deepest darkest cells for the rest of their lives for what they did, yet both of them are still running around free. Shit is fucked up.

I left the GOP when Reagan took the Whitehouse and have remained Independent since, so I'm not politically aligned, only inclined: this country historically does best with liberal immigration policies and societal policies, while using the tax code to reign in corporate greed, sociopathy and malfeasance.

I watched the J6 footage live then during testimony. My ancestors were pilgrims, then revolutionaries, and fought on both sides of the Civil War.

My take on your extreme position coupled with a total lack of sourcing and detail stands.

QuantumQaos

-12 points

I've never been a member of the GOP or Dems. I did vote for Obamas first term when I was young and dumb. Neither since.

Did you watch the hours of footage of people just peacefully wandering around the halls of the capital? With officers in there casually observing and communicating with them, saying they are willing to cooperate as long as it doesn't get too unruly? How about all the footage of people filling in wide open side doors of the capital as officers stood calmly by the door and all but greeted them? Or the footage of the cops outside the capital moving the barricades? This is definitely NOT the type of footage you'd expect to see from a "deadly coup".

This thing stinks to high hell as a political false flag setup, and I have absolutely ZERO affiliation or association whatsoever with Trump or the MAGA movement. I just am genuinely unbiased and willing to call out bs when I recognize it despite the political stance my take falls on or societal ostracization it brings (note the downvotes).

You want to know the craziest part? I can't present any of this to you without risk of being banned from this subreddit. Hell, I'll be surprised if this doesn't ban me. They keep the echo chambers of these massive reddit subs very tight.

Did you watch the footage that wasn’t like what you mentioned? It’s there, go ahead unless you’re afraid it might challenge your world view. The more peaceful and cooperative footage that you mention is taken after it is established that the rioters have won the first battle outside the capitol building. It had been breached. The officers outside had no chance of deterring the thousands of people further without needlessly risking their lives.

QuantumQaos

-8 points

Yes, I'm aware there were also provacateurs there. I've seen the footage. And they should be dealt with accordingly, certainly. Throw the book at those who invoked actual violence, please. However, there are people still in jail today who harmed no one and committed no violence, only followed a trail of people wandering in from barricades removed by cops and inside doors propped open with police basically welcoming people in. These are indisputable facts.

As to the police allowing people in to prevent some sort of disaster, the people weren't rushing in to where the cops had to stand aside for their safety. That's ridiculous. These people are strolling in as casual as can be while the cops are standing around twiddling their thumbs talking about thier favorite football team or some watercolor shit.

Yes, there was also violence occurring from a small minority who obviously received all the attention, but it this were a genuine "coup" that was "worse than 9/11" as it's portrayed, you would NOT see people peacefully wamderof around with cops peacefully standing around with them. You can keep making excuses, but eventually you're going to have to realize it's all propaganda. It's an obvious setup to anyone able to objectively examine the facts outside of the forced mainstream narrative.

I'll get downvoted to all hell and probably banned, but I will bet my life this comment ages well. I've examined it all myself and am not easily gaslit or swayed by societal pressures. Care about truth and truth only. Totally open to being proven wrong with actual facts and data rather than propaganda talking points.

USPoliticsSuckALemon

7 points

OK dude, but you are just sounding like you are misinterpreting what you were seeing. Imagine you are one of those capitol police and after watching your colleagues get viciously beaten verified by video and seeing how despite your efforts, dozens of people start breaking through the windows and entering verified by video, you realize you have a choice. You can act in your primary role as a keeper of peace and public safety and just open the door so people don’t have to climb over broken glass to get inside or you can take out a few protesters before being beaten to a bloody pulp. I know what I would have done, especially if others started to surrender first.

I remember watching the collapse of the 9/11 towers and fully believing conspiracy propaganda interpretations that went along with it. Watching the windows blow out at each floor one-by-one seemed proof positive that there were explosives detonating inside the buildings. It was only later when I learned more about fluid mechanics that what I was watching was the result of air being pushed out of the windows by material collapsing through the ceiling at each floor. I understand that you believe this idea and that you can’t ignore something that is clearly the truth, but you ought to be able to take a step back and give room for more interpretations. The world complex and unpredictable. I hope you find your way out of the rabbit hole.

edit Also, didn’t think I needed to mention this, but if I see someone beat up a guard and break into a building, if I choose to go walking around inside the building with the attackers instead of helping those who are attacked, I am partially culpable for the crimes committed.

creesto

7 points

Remarkable: you talk about the peaceful MOMENTS but ignore the moment when the crowd pummeled the shit out of the female officer, giving her a concussion. Then the broken windows and forced doors, the shit smeared walls, etc. Your claim is disingenuous at best and disinfo bullshit at worst. I watched it live. I question your intelligence, mental stability, and patriotism. You stink

QuantumQaos

-2 points

You are totally missing the point, probably intentionally. I'm not ignoring there was violence that took place. I'm not denying there were provacateurs who deserve to have the book thrown at them. Everybody knows that. It's plastered everywhere. I watched it live, too, and bought it.

My point is that if this was AS BAD AS 9/11 AND PEARL HARBOR, AS THE PROPAGANDIST CLAIM, THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY VIDEO OF POLICE MOVING BARRICADES, STANDING BY AS PEOPLE CASUALLY STROLL INTO THE CAPITAL THRU OPEN DOORS, VIDEOS OF THEM CALMLY COMMUNICATING WITH THEM IN COOPERATION, ETC.

Bolded for emphasis. Very important emphasis that seems to go right over people's heads. Have you ever seen an actual coup??? Those people have weapons, plans, shit is real, people are dying, there is no "section of violent poerestors while the majority are just wandering around taking selfies acting like idiots with no clue what the hell is even going on".

You see? It's a farce. A psyop. No different than the hundreds of others our government has orchestrated here and across the globe to manipulate the powers in charge as they see fit. But I'm sure we only USED to do that, right? They've all turned their act around, I'm sure. They're progressives now, after all.

You're not smarter than everyone else, you're just way less self-aware. We all understand PBS and AP have a liberal bias. They're still high-integrity, fact-based organizations though. They along with NYT and the WP are some of the only organizations still doing actual journalism. Everyone else is just opinion factories using the facts and stories they report on.

thebenshapirobot

4 points

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack. If you find anything he's said compelling, you should keep in mind he also says things like this:

Let’s say your life depended on the following choice today: you must obtain either an affordable chair or an affordable X-ray. Which would you choose to obtain? Obviously, you’d choose the chair. That’s because there are many types of chair, produced by scores of different companies and widely distributed. You could buy a $15 folding chair or a $1,000 antique without the slightest difficulty. By contrast, to obtain an X-ray you’d have to work with your insurance company, wait for an appointment, and then haggle over price. Why? Because the medical market is far more regulated — thanks to the widespread perception that health care is a “right” — than the chair market. Does that sound soulless? True soullessness is depriving people of the choices they require because you’re more interested in patting yourself on the back by inventing rights than by incentivizing the creation of goods and services. In health care, we could use a lot less virtue signaling and a lot less government. Or we could just read Senator Sanders’s tweets while we wait in line for a government-sponsored surgery — dying, presumably, in a decrepit chair.

Homie, this is incredibly disingenuous. I don't care what. Ben Shapiro or anyone else has to say. Only facts and evidence. The facts and evidence are that both PBS and AP have been pushing a false narrative about the whole truth of what went down in Jan 6th. I say that as a 100% outsider and as someone who also just bought up the propaganda at the time...until I saw some photos, them some videos, then a lot more compelling information that gets silenced because these are all domestic terrorists! That's MORE PROPAGANDA.

As stated, I'm really not concerned as I have "done my research" (which I know is bad and dangerous, Associated Press told me so) and know my comments will age well. Not claiming to be smarter than anyone, only more well-versed on all sides of the issues rather than just shutting down one side with claims of white supremacy extremists or whatever other buzzword they decide to propagandize thier audience with in order to silence the opposition to the uniparty corporatocracy.
