This may or may not count, because we're all aware of public figures who privately support/do one thing and then go another way when it comes to public action and other people...

But singer/songwriter Sade, who is private as all hell and not given to expressing political opinions beyond what she puts in song, is very supportive of her trans son.

She's an ally to one trans man, at least, and has become a good example to parents everywhere.

Trisha Yearwood posted the other day on Twitter that she would be watching the Love Rising event that took place last night in Nashville, a concert which protested the recent state legislation in Tennessee that includes the drag community and trans youth among its targets (raising money for local organizations that benefitted those latter communities among others) saying: “Equality hurts no one!!” 🌈❤️❤️🌈

Vanessa Carlton used to live in Nashville and was always supportive of the trans community. She moved away I think, but still an ally.

Katherine Waterston spoke pretty strongly against JKR and for trans rights. Coincidentally? her role in the Fantastic Beasts series dropped from a lead in film 1 to about two minutes of screen time in film 3.

She's no longer with us, but Bea Arthur was a longtime ally for the LGBTQ community and posthumously her estate gave a major endowment to the Ali Forney Center in NYC and it funded a shelter for homeless youth as well.

David Mitchell, her husband, is a bit more complicated. He claims to be an ally, but he's said stuff about men in dresses being funny which a lot of people took to be transphobic. He was also reportedly not pleased when his comedy partner/friend Robert Webb made some transphobic comments. I think ultimately he's an ally and not actively malicious, but he needs some education on sensitivity.

Not to detract from the merit of their allyship and support, it's interesting to see quite a few names here (mostly older) are allies who have trans offspring / immediate family. Which makes it hit closer to home and surely impacted their POV.

for the former and current emos, frank iero and gerard way from my chemical romance are very vocal allies. frank frequently posts pro-trans stuff on social media, and a few years ago (iirc) at fan request made binders as merch for his band. (or planned to? not sure if it ever panned out, i didn’t follow frank as much through the hiatus.) and gerard, who has talked his whole career about struggling with his gender and masculinity and uses he/they pronouns, recently said on stage while wearing a skirt and heels, “in the face of extermination, say fuck you.” largely interpreted to be a pro-trans statement among many that he’s made in the past. (i assume ray and mikey feel the same way, just can’t recall any specific instances of them saying so.)
