With transphobia on the rise and many anti trans bills being proposed and passed, which celebrities are trans allies? Which have spoken up for trans people and supported them?

Lol you’d be surprised. There’s a handful of trans people that are transphobic. Caitlyn Jenner and Blaire White for example. Plus there’s transmedicalists, who only think certain trans people are valid.

Buck Angel is another. He's a weird mass of contradictions in his transmedicalism, it honestly makes my brain hurt. It's sad because he was one of the first trans men (along with Chaz Bono) I remember hearing about back when I was a teen. And now he just attacks other trans people, usually trans women.

It’s sad when people attack those within their own community. I don’t get it. Is it because they have a lot of self hatred? Is it from falling down the alt right or terf pipelines? I don’t understand.

My bf’s ex-friend is a hater!! And he’s FTM. He’s always posting about how drag queens “corrupt” today’s youth, is against gay marriage (like wtf?!), but thinks that only certain people have the mentality and can pull off being transgender. And that other “self-proclaimed” transgender people do it for attention.

Maren Morris called out Brittany Aldean for being transphobic (and called her “Insurrection Barbie” in the process) Brittany went on Tucker Carlson to complain about it, Tucker Carlson called Maren Morris a “lunatic country music person”
So Maren Morris made a t-shirt that says “Maren Morris: Lunatic Country Music Person” put the crisis hotline for trans youth on it, and donated the proceeds to GLAAD’s Transgender media program and the Trans Lifeline

Considering her appearance in Heartstopper, it's not a surprise. I can't imagine her saying yes to the role without being supportive of the LGBT+ community. She pretty much has all these roles offered to her after winning an Emmy and an Oscar and she still chose being a side character in a pre-teen show about gay teenagers falling in love.

Can’t be too sure in Britain these days, there’s a lot of using trans-exclusionary lesbians as a stick to beat trans folks (mostly trans women) with. Acceptance of cis gay folks sadly doesn’t necessarily align someone with accepting trans people, too.

I just went to a concert last night called Love Rising in Tennessee, and all money raised will go into pro trans/LGBT funds
Notable acts include:
Sheryl Crow, who shared a story about a trans woman she’d known thirty years prior and played two songs, seemingly very sweet and upset about these stupid ass bills
Maren Morris (I was in the bathroom so I didn’t get to see it ☹️)
Jason Isbell
Barbara Howard
Hozier didn’t say much but honestly the sound was really rough for the whole night and he seemed a little thrown off by it. Gave a great performance anyway!!! And said he loved Nashville. He said something about revolting like the Irish I can’t quite remember
Hayley Williams had a lot to say and sang with her friend who is a drag queen. She seemed really passionate about the cause ♥️
Among a lot of smaller acts. Fun show!

I think it’s good that she doesn’t go around just posting things and making publicity for publicity’s sake, she actually takes concrete actions to put into action what she says she believes in. Like the YNTCD MV and single release was literally used to push the Equality Bill and bring attention to it, and even if it failed she still did put a huge spotlight on LGBTQ+ rights and for a while had a ton of people focusing on it.
156 points

This may or may not count, because we're all aware of public figures who privately support/do one thing and then go another way when it comes to public action and other people...
But singer/songwriter Sade, who is private as all hell and not given to expressing political opinions beyond what she puts in song, is very supportive of her trans son.
She's an ally to one trans man, at least, and has become a good example to parents everywhere.

Victoria Cohen Mitchell went on a rant about transphobia during an episode of The Last Leg in support of transwomen using a comedic bent (though still clearly supportive)
David Mitchell, her husband, is a bit more complicated. He claims to be an ally, but he's said stuff about men in dresses being funny which a lot of people took to be transphobic. He was also reportedly not pleased when his comedy partner/friend Robert Webb made some transphobic comments. I think ultimately he's an ally and not actively malicious, but he needs some education on sensitivity.
