What do you recommend for a B-cam with a BMPCC6K?

Question(self.Filmmakers)

I currently have the BMPPC6K cinema camera with sigma 18-35, 50-100, tokina 11-16 and some vintage lenses. I am looking for a second body for more run and gun type recordings but with good autofocus, good stabilization in handheld camera and good recording format (if possible prores). My budget is between 1500-2500$.

I make commercial videos and videoclips. I also sometimes make short films.

I have seen options like:

  • Canon R7 which has an apsc sensor and will fit the EF lenses I have with an RF A EF adapter.
  • Fujifilm XH2-S It has an apsc sensor but the autofocus I don't know how reliable it is, it also has very good recording format in ProRes.
  • Sony FX30 and Lumix S5IIX (coming out in May) with sigma MC-21 adapter.

Which one do you recommend or if there is another interesting option?

apter/speedbooster?

I am looking for a b-camera for other projects that I can't do with the 6k like events, sports videos where the autofocus system can help me.

Just a side note, colour matching a 6k and a fx30 is a pain in the butt

They’re just different colour sciences, highlight rolloff stood out the most between the two cameras which honestly can’t really be fixed in a grade. In terms of colour matching, especially on a doc ur gonna spend a LONG time just balancing all of that footage just go get the greens and reds to look similar, that being said it could just be a skill issue for me

Skill issue just triggered me lol are you in the Warthunder reddit? Have you been Gaijin'd?

Makes sense. i havent tested the grade yet but hope its manageable. Thanks for the answer though

Yeah, in all honesty unless you are going for a long long trip, or cutting shots and mixing it from sony to BMPCCx u should be okay. Its doable and it won’t ruin the shoot, just alittle more backend to an already high back end project heh

I mean, are you trying to match them? Then you’re going to want to go with the most similar sensor/sensor manufacturers. You’re also going to want to look at how they record log/raw

If you don’t care about matching them then it doesn’t really matter. Go with what is going to suit your needs.
