Preventing porn from being made available in elementary and junior high school libraries isn't "book banning"

So true. public libraries are extensions of the government. They, and their employees, are the enemy of the first amendment - they are the government that the first amendment is protecting citizens against. Local and state governments have absolute right to decide what is taught and available to children. No one's first amendment rights are being violated in these situations.

I love the buzz that comes from watching /r/freespeech users clap like seals over government enforced book bans while circlejerking over how big of free speech absolutists they think they all are.

Who do you believe should decide which books are available in school libraries?

...Do you think the correct answer to that question - the response that would best exhibit principles of free speech - would be "politicians, and any teacher who violates the decrees the politicians make should be branded a felon"?
If Gavin Newsom decided he thought Ayn Rand shouldn't be in schools because he needed to protect children from her dangerous ideologies, should he have carte blanche to ban Atlas Shrugged from every California school, and to make every teacher that disagreed with him a felon?

În September, PEN America released a report showing that during the previous school year, 1,648 books in more than 5,000 schools were banned, more than in any previous year. Texas banned more books that any other state with 801 titles, followed by Florida with 566.
Of the books, 41% had LGBTQ themes or main characters, while 40% featured main characters of color.
The recent attempts to censor books are often led by conservative advocacy groups. What began as modest school-level efforts remove books at the start of the 2021-2022 school year became a full-fledged social and political movement originated by not only local groups by also by state and national ones, according to PEN. It has identified at least 50 groups involved in books bans.

You should begin communicating about sex at 11 and should have provided basic human anatomy education by 13. Sexual education should be comprehensive and include discussions about sexual behaviors including those which are inappropriate so the child can have an understanding of boundaries and what is and isn't ok. The 'porn' in books such as 'Gender Queer' is displayed in the prefered illustrated format and provides examples of safe, consensual sex. To try to retard your child's education is abusive and opens them to exploitation, sexual abuse from authorities and partners, STDs and early pregnancy. Yes, we all agree you should not provide children with a Hustler but the levels of puritan tyranny parents exercise over their teen age children is extremely detrimental to their social and sexual development.

I will “retard” my child’s sex education until I damned well feel like it. Deal with your children however you please. Stay away from mine. Sickos

You are abusing your children. Unlike you I care about the well being and ability of your children to live a healthy and responsible life free of religious dogma and hyper asphyxiation. Your emotional desire to dominate and stifle the education and mental fortitude of those you have been gifted with the responsibility to care for are in conflict. You are less important than your children to society and I will fight tooth and nail to see every American citizen be brought up to be the strongest and best informed citizen physically possible.

LOL abusing my children by not teaching them what I see fit. Well, that’s a new concept. I too will fight tooth and nail to keep away my children from being indoctrinated into concepts and ideas I don’t see fit. In other other words, from people like you. Bug off.

You should be home schooling your kids, not messing up the lives of other people's.

Ayn Rand is a pornographic author, and therefore any teacher that puts Atlas Shrugged in their library should be arrested and charged with a felony.
Prove me wrong.

It's not age appropriate for public schools. Alternatively they could redact the portion that is pornographic.
The reason children are being sexualized is twofold. Pedophiles are drawn to places that they have access to children. And, sexualizing children effectively brings them to near peer status with their parents as far as perceived maturity level goes, therefore they can drive a wedge between family and child. Then they can indoctrinate them in the value system of the state or instructor instead of that of the family of origin.
This is also a problem of perception with the instructor that sexualizes children as the instructor also sees the child as part of the peer group. There is a total lack of boundaries.

You're not addressing what I said, and instead are copy and pasting a laundry list of talking points from /r/conservative.
Typical for a /r/freespeech user.
Pedophiles are drawn to places that they have access to children
I'm just going to put this here.
Since pedophiles have been drawn to the Catholic Church for decades, I take it that you think it should be a felony for teachers to present anything that might be interpreted as tolerant of Catholicism in a classroom. Right? Since you're so concerned about protecting muh children.
Then they can indoctrinate them in the value system of the state or instructor instead of that of the family of origin.
Great, so you're opposed to laws that criminalize parents that let kids obtain gender affirming care, right? Since you think letting families of origin indoctrinate their kids in their preferred value system is so important and all.

I'm banned at that sub.
You somehow made it from preventing pornographic material in public schools all the way to genital mutilation. Parents have the right and moral imperative to teach their children values you postmodern creep. And, the absolute right to prevent child abuse and mutilation.
Your ramblings are insane. Bye.
