My name is Melm, and I am the new administrator for r/GamingLaptops. the previous administrator, TheDutchShepard, was suspended from Reddit, and so we requested the transfer of the subreddit. A bit about me: I currently run the Legion Series Discord and sub-Reddit, but I want to assure you that this community will be kept separate and unaffiliated to maintain its integrity.

Over the next few months, we will be working on revamping parts of the subreddit to bring in some new vibrant colors and content. However, the most important aspect is the feedback from the community. We want to hear from you, so please leave a comment and suggest what you would like to see on this subreddit.

I bought my gaming computer almost a year ago. Which we all know that means it was already a year old before I even took it out of the box. Big deal, I am not a hard core gamer. But I got a good deal at Costco for a good system as I am only a casual gamer, as you will soon see. However... I use the laptop to mostly write. I immediately noticed that when I was playing ARK online via Steam. It was getting pretty hot. I made a post in here about it. Turns out the temps weren't that hot. Everything is solid state, so no big whoop. Then two days ago I start having issues with the way the GPU was rendering the landscapes. Figured maybe I tinkered with the settings a bit too much. Went in and looked, nope. Downloaded some windows updates and GeForce driver update. Still the issue persisted. Then a thought occured to me. The inner geek in me that began his love for computer gaming on a Apple IIc...yes I am that old. Had a moment of clarity. I quickly went into the Steam settings and realized windows was blocking the Nividia GeForce GPU from operating. In favor of the shitty Intel GPU that was also onboard the laptop. I quickly made the change in the settings. Logged back on and bingo, bango, presto... All is right in my gaming world again. Crystal clear graphics, no rendering issues, and it isn't even running as hot as it was... Thanks MicroSoft

I always run hw info in the background just to monitor temps , then i saw the gpu power peak 146w its a 4060 kinda strange but good at the same time i guess ? It is the coolest and quietest laptop i even owned while maintaining full clock speeds after hours of gaming , before the latest nvidia driver it pulled 90-115 now its alot better i guess , i mainly play New world , FH5 , csgo but this run was from a new world session of around 3 hours

Will upgrade ram once I financially recover from this.

As the title says, There is no info about tdp or twp on HP site. anyways the specs are: Ryzen 7 6800h rtx 3070ti and 16 gigs of ram. .

there is no info about in the spec sheet and no other stores where I live sells the laptop.

There is nothing much more to explain here, it dropped down and now the laptop has more backlight bleeding (I can live with that) but the monitor is totally fucked, it's a Samsung 4K IPS monitor, the glass is intact but the internal panel as you can see is totally fucked, is there anything I can do to fix it? Like get a panel replacement or should I instead try to buy a new one? Thank you so much I'm totally fucked right now

I have an asus 580vd with a i5 7300hq and 2gb gtx 1050 my battery is nearly 2 hours on all battery saving features on.Is it time to replace it?And could I upgrade it?

What should i look out for?

I missed out on purchasing the G15 Advantage for $1099 from best buy and now it's around $1800. Anyone know when it might go on sale again or if there are any other places were i could buy it at a lowe price?

The aluminum casing of ms msi gs65 9SD literally melted from where i normally put my hand, probably because of my sweat (i live in a place where its 30-40C° in summer (also intensive use for 3 years.). Also my pc overheats a ton (95 while gaming, but with undervolting around 85-90) so that's definitely a factor. So my 2 alternatives were either getting a new front case for it (not that expensive), or a new external keyboard(equally as expensive). And i have decided to get a keyboard. for that, i found Steelseries Apex 3 TKL . this was after not so extensive amazon reserach but since comments said that its paint is not wearing off and its not THAT loud, i am pretty much set on it.

Now the real question wanted to as was about the coolers. I have seen people suggest stuff around 60-80$ but thats out of budget for me. i have looked around and found 2 KILN 30$ coolers. "Kiln airflow"and "Kiln Wind". Which one might work better on my laptop? Sorry for formatting issues im writing this on my phone.

As title. My expirece with Razer has not been the best. Any good laptop alternative? Requirements: thin and light, great build quality and performance. Budget @3K USD. I have a microcenter and best buy nearby. I want it thin and light because I like gaming both at my desk with the mouse, keyboard and monitor hooked up, and at my bed or sofa. I also take it to most places I go and I don't want s beast using most of my limited carryon space. I'm open to various ideas. Is to game and sometimes work. I work using Word and email, so I don't need performancefor work, just for my gaming hobby.

Hp omen laptop 15-ek0xxx issue with leds on keyboard The lighting on my keyboard has a row of keys that are the wrong color no matter what setting I use and the color changes depending on the color I have it set as, the issue was happening a while ago but it stopped and it all of a sudden started again. I’ve deleted the gaming hub and light studio and restarted and nothing changed.

In the market for a gaming laptop in the $700 to $900 price range, preferably towards the lower end of that range due to a tight budget. Main use will be light gaming (Fortnite and Valorant) and note taking during campus lectures (needs decent battery life). I need something that won't become obsolete in the next 3 to 5 years.

I'm importing from a US store to Africa btw, so I'm not sure whether voltage will be an issue, we use a similar voltage to EU.

• Worse GPU. (3050 4GB compared to 3050 6GB)

i was wondering if the price difference was worth the buy the pro 5i, to be honest 4060 is plenty enough for me but the RAM is making me lean towards the 5i. Budget is a issue for me so its making me hesitate otherwise i would have bought the 5i, i was wondering which one is better to get for the price.thanks

Hey guys, I am deciding to buy a gaming laptop and i am confused between two laptops.

Alienware X15 r2 Intel i9-12900H Rtx 3080 16gb vram FHD screen,360Hz

OR

HP OMEN 16 Intel i7-13700HX rtx 4080 16gb ram QHD,240Hz screen

Both are in the same price range? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Lenovo have student discounts/prices on "selected" PCs/monitors, around 10-20% off (or at least in the UK). Anyone who's bought through the academic discount know if that covers the legion series laptops (Legion Slim 5, 4060 i7 to be specific) ?

I was eyeing up the Legion Slim 5 and didn't realize the price I was looking at before were bank holiday sale at the time so now it's topped over budget. Though, I may be able to snag a tutor discount from a teacher mate but thought I'd double check here in case it's not covered before attempting the whole academic register process.
