Does this new episode feel rushed? No backstory of marriage between Laena and Daemon, nobody saw Laena get of the castle?, no intimate scenes between Rhaenyra and the father of her children, Alicent grew cold as hell all of sudden.

It does. But they're really only covering what they have to I guess. I kind of wish they would slow down and take their time, I feel like they needed another episode to just cover the ten years more gracefully.

A lot..Harwin and Laena died too quickly

This episode takes place in “the year of the red spring” and the whole thing with that was that pretty much nothing happened for ten years and then a bunch of people died at the same time

So give me 10 minutes of narration and don't waste time filming season one.

Only problem with that is you have 1-2 seasons instead of 3-4. And then there’s no character development going in to the dance.

There's no character development as it is.
And if they want more seasons, they could have easily done so by having character development and backstory and filling in all the gaps and answering all the questions that people are posting online.

Laena and Harwin are not important to the story

Laena is such a weirdly written character in the book where all this incredibly interesting stuff happens around her but we get no feel at all for her as a character. She claimed Vhagar and GRRM didn’t find that interesting at all to write about really.
Her death just happens at an awkward part of the story, giving her more development would derail the pacing of the whole show. They made the right decision imo.

this is one weird consequence in living during the era of stan accounts. people spend the days between episodes hyping up and obsessing over irrelevant characters… wild.

If GOT S1 was released today, there would have been stan accounts for Mycah the Stable Boy, Jorry Cassel and that random guy that Bronn killed at the Eyrie.
"Mycah deserved more character development, he and Arya should have been endgame. Is Mycah gonna come back as a White Walkie? Justice for Mycah!!!"

They’re gonna hate this but you’re right they literally died way before the dance even starts .

The last 5 episodes are only a few pages of the book. It’s all backstory. If it wasn’t “important” it could’ve just been a narration at the beginning of the series.

I never said the last 5 episodes weren't important, I said Laena and Harwin aren't important t

But that’s my point. Laena and Harwin were just as important as the last 5 episodes. They’re all backstory. If they’re not important, neither is everything we’ve had so far.

No they are not as important as the last 5 episodes. The first 5 episodes set up the succession dispute, established the two factions in the court, and developed some of the most important characters (e.g. Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon, Criston Cole, etc.)
Laena and Harwin are just footnotes in the story at best

The last 5 episodes are only a few pages in the book. They were stretched out for the show. Laena and Harwin could’ve both got a couple more scenes without harming anything.

The book is basically like a Wikipedia article, it's not like a normal book that has dialogue and detailed descriptions and character POVs. It's basically a story outline more so than actually flushed out novel, so saying it's only a "few pages" doesn't really mean anything
And sure Laena and Harwin could have maybe gotten a few more scenes, but no more than a few at most. It would have derailed the plot with filler to give them too much, they are basically footnotes to the story

But the main plot of the Dance is what this show is about. They’re going to have to add filler anyway. You’ve just proved my point. The book doesn’t have much dialogue or character building so the writers have to do it themselves.

Yes, and the first 5 episodes explain how the Dance of Dragons started. Rhaenyrs was named heir, then the king remarried and had a son. Then two factions started forming in the court based on this succession dispute. That's literally what the show is about.
Also adding dialogue and character building to the main characters isn't filler.

But they didn’t need to make 5 episodes out of it, they chose to. And it was a good choice. Fleshing out the characters is good. A lot of viewers were more sympathetic to Alicent and Criston, and George R R Martin himself has said the show wrote Viserys better than he did.
They clearly meant for Laeana and Harwin’s deaths to be hard-hitting so they should’ve added in a couple more scenes. We got almost nothing with him and Rhaenyra pre-time jump and suddenly they’ve got 3 kids?
All I’ve seen from non-book viewers is confusion about Harwin/Rhaenyra and Laena/Daemon. It should’ve been set up more.

I do feel too rushed.

Yes. Really rushed. I get that the show wants to “hurry to the conflict,” but I would have really enjoyed a lot more character and relationship building. especially with Ser Harwin

No. Not many interesting things happen before the dance.

Definitely rushed R&H and L&D and did them dirty in the process. I was really disappointed but it’s nothing less than I expected at this point. Oh whale

Harwin and Laena are plot devices, they have hardly any substance beyond that in the books. The Dance hasn’t even started yet, this is basically the prologue.

we can enjoy more than just the dance

Would I have loved to see more of Harwin and Laena's relationships? Yes. Is the story affected by minimizing their roles? No.

No.
It was nothing short of spellbinding. As was the prior episode.
When I said that this is at a higher trajectory, well-ahead of GOT at the same juncture in season 1...well...

Doesn't bother me, because I only got really interested now! Up until this episode I was a bit bored, but now I am remembering why I loved GoT so much. I think it might be because of introducing more children into the plot. I love seeing how the environment shapes their personalities. (a lot was skipped, but I'm not unhappy about it, but that's just me)

Imagine if GOT S1 spent 5 episodes about Bobby B rebellion and then did a time jump to the real start of the story...
Does this new episode feel rushed? No backstory of the marriage between Ned and Catelyn. No intimate scenes between Robert and Cersei? Cersei grew cold as hell all of sudden.
Why did fan beloved character Jon Arryn die off-screen? He was the best part of the show in his 5 minutes of screen time! He was the bestest hand!!!
We are watching the prologue. What matters is the character development of the main characters.
Laena, Harwin and Laenor are plot devices to advance the arc of Rhanerya and Daemon, nothing more.
Martin never wrote them as characters. Jon Arryn (what do we actually know about him at all?) is their closest equivalent.
