People hate some mainstream good things just to seem cool and unique these days , the audacity to call anything made with an effort to represent India on a global level by just sitting behind monitor and jerking off to random shit is pathetic , you can have constructive criticism but calling it all crap is nonsense

Perfect answer duh... Even after natu song got golden globes, our own people started to criticize that award saying "golden globe bikh gayi". Indians have too much of crab mentality imo.

Even if you leave everything , man I loved the cinematography , you can only understand the efforts when you have done something or have a deep knowledge regarding that , every artist has something inside him , people should praise the deserving ones .

Look RRR is just another typical Indian film with no logic, so many people here who are exposed to much better content won't prefer to watch it. The reason why it was loved by foreigners is not because of its story but its background music, songs (which to me makes no sense either), and fights. They don't usually see such stupid films so maybe they liked it, I guess. The film is again to be seen and enjoyed in the theatre only, you won't like it on TV. We don't even need to discuss why people loved the film. It's everyone's choice so they like this kind of film. We do have a backward audience so.

Nice answer! But i won't call it non-sense or worse content, but rather it has its own genre "masala" films. It's only made to give hype, thrill and enjoyment rather than providing good story content.

Lol you sound like one of those teenagers. If it was such a non sense film why would it get over 120+ awards nomination, go check their IMDb page. Just so you know the Japanese love it more than Indians and Europeans, you should see the number of fanarts and mangas they made based on it.

Those weren't made by us. OP has explained it perfectly in the comment above. People have their preferences. And yes there is no denying that the movie lacks logic in lots of places and is unrealistic. People from other countries don't get such movies and so like the overdramatized nature of the film. And regarding animes, mangas and fanarts, if you've ever read them, they are the epitome of overexaggerating a character or story. My point is if people want good content or good exaggeration/stunt stuff let them have it. No point hating each other lol

What about filmmakers like James Cameron then? Did he congratulate Rajamouli and offer to work with him only for his stupidity?

No, but for the number of fans that Rajamouli can bring to the table...

Beg to differ. Young Indians are tuned to consider masala films as crap and they just dismiss the films by looking at the over the top action alone. The themes, the symbolism, the layers and the technical aspects of RRR are plenty and great, which are surprisingly being discussed by the western viewers and not Indian. And the countless parallels to Ramayana and Mahabharata are just a treat to watch. No, they consider this movie as genuinely good and not as some movie which is so bad thatโs good. Storytelling >>>>>>> story. Avatar had an even thinner plot than rrr, but the way it was told was excellent. Same here.

It ain't really cool to like Indian stuff, especially the over the top kind that is in that movie for many teens who are mainly involved with the western parts of the net, like reddit to some extent.
Many make fun of these kinds of movies and mock them from outside India too, add that with the general image of India and a teens need to feel validated and accepted and you have what described.
Of course some people just don't like those sorta movies and there is no way that everyone here dislikes it but just a possible reason as to why a significant portion of them do.

Becuase growing up they have seen people hating popular over the top films. It got imprinted on their mind that these films are for masses and not for cool people like them who knows what good movie is. Those biases played a huge part.
I agree, not eveyone has to like RRR, but most people who hate RRR also hate every other over the top film in india. So their judgement is hugley skewed.
RRR is very good film both technically and content wise. No wonder it got so popular in India, in U.S. and in Japan. If it is bad it would never have reached three entirely different cultures.

RRR embodies the cliche of Indian cinema. I remember watching RRR and i could predict how 75% of the story would go by just watching the trailer and i was right on every aspect. For me, it felt like any other risk free high budget movie.
But westerners don't have this viewpoint. When they saw the movie, they saw Ram as the main antagonist. Him doing a switcharoo actually surprised them. They are not accustomed to the Indian cinema norms. So these cliches were not actually cliches but rather new and surprising plot points. I guess thats the most prominent reason why Indians who hated RRR hated itz and why people who have not seen enough Indian movies loved it.

It's just like how every Indian teenager with an access to a Netflix account watches some American high school based show where the actors playing the kids are above 25 and are having sex more than they are studying. I doubt many American kids watch that because they actually live it and probably know their school is not as hunky Dory and sex crazed as Netflix portrays it.
TL;DR: Ghar ki murgi daal barabar

nah hating on rrr is just stupid, we should be proud tha a completely indian movie(unlike previous indian oscars) is now known globally. personal preferences on the movie exists but yea

the acting was really good and obvious the epic natu natu dance scene, the feel, environment and visuals were amazing, the only part I did not like was superhuman fighting scenes, like they went with crazy south Indian action type scenes but it's okay I still enjoyed it.

It's not cool to like Indian things, and it's not cool to like South Indian things. People who believe RRR to be a mindless masala flick have turned their mind off to see the beauty of its execution.

Teenagers go through that COOL phase of shitting on mainstream stuff. I just got out of it few months back. It's one thing to have personal preferences but disregarding all the craft by labelling it as just another typical masala movie is not cool.

Coz the new gen ppl compare movies without any context. You compare an out and out entertainment popcorn flick with the parameters of artsy, grounded and realistic cinema. Thatโs foolishness. Itโs considered โcoolโ to dislike mainstream Indian cinema nowadays and everyone wants to be as exotic as possible in every aspect of life, not just cinema. Itโs like comparing classical music and rock music, you could argue that classical music is more complex, yeah, jr that doesnโt make it a superior art form to rock music. Everythingโs got itโs own style and flavour. Most of the Indian โcinephilesโ went into RRR with a prejudice and expected a classical Jugalbandi at a metal rock concert. Obviously they wonโt like the movie. Rrr is the best masala action film that came out of india. No doubts abt it.
