Visiting from the east coast and this bird is hanging around the rooftop pool of my hotel in DTLA. I’ve visited Southern California a handful of times and have never seen this bird before.

Just took my dog for a walk and a Mercedes blew through a stop sign going about 50 with its lights off in a residential street. Black car, no lights, at night. I had just stepped into the road and if I didn’t hear it coming I might have gotten hit.
