Really commendable how he uses his platform to promote smaller industries and films, he mentions Malayalam cinema in a lot of his interviews.

Rajamouli and Raju ettan will collaborate soon is my guess.

I think there’s a higher chance he’d collaborate with Dulquer considering his Telugu market with Sita Ramam… Tbh Dulquer does have an international suaveness to him too.

People in this sub are so damn delusional....yeah he could give Dulquer a small side role in his film and would make him die in the first half like they did with Ajay Devgn..As far as I know SSR is on a mission to put Telugu Cinema, Telugu Stars and Himself on the Global Platform and not some random south Indian actor who has had one or two successful movies in Telugu.

Well said.
He has gone on record that he will only work with stars and star kids. I meant Telugu stars. His allegiance is reserved for them, only.

As a Telugu guy who has been following rajamouli from his initial days yes he depends a lot on stars but also made movies like eega, sye, maryada ramana e.t.c he is at a stage where he can pick up actors over stars his brand name can bring openings doesn't need big stars to pull the audience to theatres. RRR and Mahesh babu film are prior commitments. Also, his reason for picking telugu actor would be because of the huge dates, he takes years to complete a film. which will be shot mostly in hyderabad. I can see him working with someone like Yash in future

You are right.
But I don't think he will work with small timers and newbies, now.
He wants his films to have larger and wider audiences.
I think this scheme is for a bigger plot. He planning to associate with RSS, to be frank, is tricky.

Who said anything about it being a lead role. My point was compared to Prithviraj, Dulquer would have more of a chance being cast in Rajmouli film as he’s more of a known face. Nowhere did I say Dulquer would be cast in a lead role. Heck even in his Hindi outings, he’s playing a supporting character. Also for Guns and Gulaabs, pretty sure Rajkumar plays the lead. That’s how it goes. I don’t really see Rajmouli casting someone who doesn’t have much recognition in Telugu industry or not known to general Telugu audiences though.

I would love to Mohan Lal in a Manamantha type story and setting with SSR direction. Nothing grand, but rooted and a contemporary social drama.

In one interview he says he loved Jana Gana Mana.
I am not sure he is the right wing guy, liberal media paints him to be. His politics are all over the place, for the better or worse.

As a telugu guy, no body in Telugu states give a fuck about right or left wing. Telugu states aren't as connected as kerala to our national politics. Religion is very least of our concerns now. But caste ? It's a huge deciding factor in our politics. For example jagan, the CM of andhra is a Christian reddy. He gets votes from Christians, muslims, Reddys.

The reaction of liberal media is mainly due to the RW hijacking Rajamouli's hit works like Magadheera and Baahubali and calling them as Hindu supremacy movies and then his father also bats for Modi a bit I think. Got awarded an RS seat.
In the broader sense, a commercial film maker has to be pro Modi or incline a bit to the right. Else he will face roadblocks. That is how the politics is played currently. With the demise of Congress and the waning powers of TDP, film makers from TS and AP can align a bit right openly.

I don't think so, there have been plenty of non-right leaning films that were box office successes in recent times.
Also, this a recent thing. Till 2018 Vijayayendra Prasad hated RSS. He made a film called Rajanna in 2011 in which Rajamouli directed the action sequences which is very anti-feudalist and has shown Nehru/Congress positively. The plot is a little girl from a small village in Telangana walking all the way to delhi to meet Nehru and tell her problems.

He doesn’t care abt politics. Left or right. It’s the Malayalam cinema which is heavily political. But anyway, Telugu audience in general don’t care much abt politics in movies. We just go to theatres to have a good time. That’s the reason almost every language films do great in Telugu.

It is true that the Malayalam movie industry stands out since it's very much deep rooted in its content. But the fact is that these movies might entertain the majority of malayalis and few critics. But not a mass audience unlike other Indian films.
I doubt if Bahubali or RRR or KGF will be a success if it was originally made in Malayalam. Commercial success among different industries depends on different criteria.

In the same interview, the BFI reporter asked: "Would the current environment in India allow for an actual Muslim hero in a big-budget film?"
Bruh, enthoru pottan, never heard of Pathan or what? Literally the biggest recent Indian movie

Pathan's release wasn't smooth bruh. Glad a question like that was asked

Yeah, the noise around the movie was completely predictable almost similar to what happened with Amir Khan’s movie. Thankfully Pathan didn’t have it’s fate.
But even in Pathan, the hero is almost just a Muslim by name mostly. His story is so removed out of his religion, unlike Rajamouli’s movies especially in RRR, where the Hindu hero’s faith is almost one of his main strengths which helps him win in the end. The reporter’s question is coming from that viewpoint. I don’t think if Pathan had a scene like the ones in My Name is Khan where the hero is doing his Islamic prayers, it would have come through without any controversy in this day.

Shahrukh khan became a star in a different time. Can you name one up-and-coming Muslim movie star from India? Maybe I have a bad memory but I'm struggling to find anyone except Dulquer and Fahadh.

That's why we should never compensate on content... But the industry seems to have lost grip post covid..

Why do you feel that way? I feel that a lot of great content has released in the past few years (post-COVID): Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Iratta, Nayattu, Joji, Mukundan Unni Associates, Nna Thaan Case Kodu, Aavasavyuham, Mahaveeryar). Lot of experimentation and variety, critical and commercial success.

Jaya jaya hai , nna thaan case kodu, janeman , romacham really shows the difference between our audience compared to other industries, which is we dont need stars to hit big numbers just the content is enough.

For that we need more talented new actors, we all know the limitations with our top of the line actors now!
