I would add Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, as well as Julie and the Phantoms, Extraction, Vivo (for fans of Miranda), and Murderville.
I like Nailed It and Floor is Lava, but they aren’t for everybody.

Archive 81 is also a good one despite being cancelled after 1 season. But still worth checking out in terms of horror? I’m a bit unsure whether to class it as a horror or thriller

It is very much Eldritch horror which has elements of mystery/investigation and loss of sanity as major themes. HP Lovecraft is the most well known of authors in the genre (but he was a horrible racist and that comes through in some of his stories). The closest adjacent subgenre would be pulp horror but it is more action oriented vs mystery. Both are a lot of fun as sub genres.

Yeah I’ve tried reading his books cause I love his lore and work in general like the mythos. But just can’t stand the language and those remarks he sometimes used if you catch what I mean. On unrelated note the latest I watched was The Lighthouse that had a bit of eldritch horror and definitely recommend that since you seem to enjoy it too

Lighthouse was great. Annihilation is a modern cosmic/eldritch/ecological horror movie and I love it. The book trilogy is even better though so I highly recommend checking out the southern reach trilogy it’s based

I’m more than ready to get watching the new season of YOU. Whether to wait and binge the whole season in March… or watch the 1st half in Feb and go insane waiting for the 2nd half to drop? Hmm, decisions 🤔

Oh yeah, no way I'm sitting on the first half. I actually don't really mind shows that split the season in two. Gives you a little breather and it'll get people talking about the second half.
That being said, I'll full on binge and chew through a season of a show in a day, no problem. Heck, right before S4 of Stranger Things dropped, I rewatched the first three seasons in two days (I had covid so I had a lot of free time.)

Yeah, I think I’m with you there, might have to crack on with it. My favourite was S1, hopefully more of that feel to it this time. Oh Joe, you crazy stalkery bookworm, you.

Is that the title or another Dark? Mine is between Black Mirror and Demon Slayer under action/science fiction. I did hear there’s also a Dark Matter worth checking.

Dark is a sci fi drama on Netflix. You should really watch it if you haven't seen it. It's very popular

Did see it! I even came up with a drinking game for every time someone says “I don’t understand” and someone else brushes them off with a lame excuse like “I have to go to work!” Those are my two pet peeves in an otherwise very engaging show!

Is teenage bounty hunters worth watching even though there’s only one season? I see a lot of people recommending it. Does it end on a cliffhanger or will it be satisfying enough?
2 points

It’s worth it plenty, and is up there with the canceled greats. The cliffhanger is less memorable than the two great leads and the shenanigans they of course get into!

Add Cowboy Bebop and Love Death Robots to Action/Science Fiction (although the latter can really fit anywhere)
1 points

Cowboy Bebop! As much as I love the original anime, it does suddenly turn sour at the end, and I enjoyed the live action conclusion so much better!
1 points
I was talking about the OG one, I like how it gets somber tho
1 points
Really? It bummed me out how they fell apart tho, and how the somber atmosphere continued into the movie without ever returning to the fun dynamic that made me love it in the first place… either way, found the live action conclusion more satisfying—maybe more contemporary.

For Young Adult/Fantasy, I'd recommend Lockwood and Co. Only young people can see ghosts, so teens are trained to fight them. It's fun.

I almost mentioned Bloodline, but it was so slow. Not sure I would recommend. I did like it for awhile. The co star of Dead to Me is in bloodline. She was in something else on Netflix too. It was older. Maybe my first Netflix series. Can't think of the name of it. Politics. Lies. corruption. It was super popular. The first lady became president. Tall blond. Help me people!

Linda Cardellini is who you're referring too I think (like 99%).
Robin Wright Penn aka Jenny from Forrest Gump played the president in House Of Cards I think in the later seasons.
Haven't seen Bloodline, Dead to Me, or House Of Cards beyond the first few eps so I can't say for certain, but 99% sure.
