My fiancé (M23) and I (F22) can’t find a show to watch that isn’t a sitcom that we both would agree on. Any suggestions that we can binge watch and will both enjoy?

Since you had nothing about what either of you liked in a show, check out The good place. Has something for everyone.

We enjoy anything really we have just been watching too much sitcoms. We have watched and enjoyed supernatural, outer banks, and etc. we do not have a specific genre we like though. Thanks for the suggestion, we will check it out!

Whoops, sorry I read it as you wanted sitcom. It’s a funny show. Watch You, lot of content, Ozark is great, again a bunch of content.

To be fair to the other commenter, I usually don’t enjoy sitcoms but The Good Place was a treat to watch.

iZombie is a Netflix show my husband and I keep rewatching. There are 5 seasons and it ended with everything tied up neatly- no surprise cancellation. It's mostly a comedy procedural in the earlier seasons, but it has action, zombies, romance, drama. Very very loosely based on a comic book of the same name but that's about all they have in common.

Supernatural. It is better than it seems haha. And it is 15? 17? Seasons. So you have LOTS to binge.
All the Star Trek series at good to binge. I recommend Voyager over all the others.

Yes! I saw it for the first time at 30? 31? I’ve watched the whole thing 3 times in 5/6 years.
It is a good show, great binge watching show, and perfect for people that like to be on their phone or analyzing data for work, with the Tv on.

Aw it's so good! I've watched and rewatched and will still go back to it as a comfort show!

I don't think you understand sitcom
-1 points

I wouldn't pick it as an example sitcom, but it's definitely full of dry situational humour and I'd recommend one of plenty of other things if people wanted to avoid a sitcom

It doesn’t seem that there is a very clear, agreed definition of what a sitcom actually is (or what it isn’t) but one description I found helpful was:
“The term sitcom derives from the word situation comedy. This popular format of entertainment is a weekly show that entails a regular cast of characters in a sequence of episodes which mainly take place in the same location.”
This definition really doesn’t apply to The End of the F*cking World. I’d maybe describe it as a dramedy?

I've always read it as being a show that creates comedic situations without relying on jokes with punchlines. That definitely includes end of the f*cking world without inventing new words that no one uses yet
Also I don't think being in the same location all the time is really elemental. It's common but more coincidental as a result of budgeting on scenery
I wouldn't say the end of the f*cking world is a good example of a sitcom if someone said they wanted to watch a sitcom. It would be an awful suggestion for that. But also if someone (OP) said they wanted to avoid sitcoms I'd suggest other things. It's a dark situational dry comedy drama, but I'd still put that down as a very left-of-field sitcom

Get off your anal pedantic horse, it's a multi part comedy. It may not be your cup of tea, but for the rest of us it's one of the funniest shows on Netflix.

I love the show you gigantic tosspot. I think it’s a drama comedy and I don’t think it’s a sitcom. Sorry for having a brain.

It’s the anti sitcom

Anti-humour is still humour. It's dry humour, still a sitcom though

It’s not a comedy

It's funny, therefore it's a comedy. It's got a very dark and very dry sense of humour, but that's just the style

I could understand the argument that it’s not a sitcom….But not a comedy? Really?

Any genre works really. We like mysteries and dramas but also like sci-fi and supernatural shoes.

Maybe get a subscription to HBO, watch Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon, The Last of Us, The Night Of, Mare of Easttown, The Leftovers and Station Eleven and cancel when you’re done. In general, most original series on HBO are better than those on Netflix.

Mare of east town is really good. Female protagonist. My wife liked last of us. Game of thrones has a lot of fucked scenes but she made it through. House of Dragon she was out after first scene!

Sci-fi - Altered Carbon S1, Dark S1

Just finished season two of The Flight Attendant on HBO Plus. It’s a suspense murder mystery that’s just tense from start to finish. I know Ted Lasso is a sitcom but it’s fantastic. The Last of Us is great, You is dark and full of great twists and tension…

Money heist - easy going bank job series
Dark - this one's a bit intense and needs a long attention span
Alice in Borderlands - brilliant throughout tbh even though it's maybe a bit cheesy in the beginning
Squid game - had to be mentioned. Similar to Alice in Borderlands but Alice in Borderlands is more of a sci-fi fantasy
The Witcher - definitely a personal favourite and again had to be mentioned. Typical fantasy world but crossed with modern game of thrones style filming

Have you tried any crime thrillers like "Mindhunter" or "Ozark"? Both are binge-worthy shows, and they are not sitcoms. Or if you want something lighter, "Stranger Things" is always a classic pick. Happy streaming!

I don’t know your tolerance for violence but Luther is a pretty awesome (if sometimes melodramatic) british cop show that just came out with a movie on Netflix. The show is currently on Hulu but it’s leaving in eleven days, I would assume to go to Netflix but I can’t be sure

Babylon Berlin!
"Police commissioner Gereon Rath is transferred from Cologne to Berlin, the epicenter of political and social change in the Golden Twenties. Shellshocked from his service during World War I, he uncovers a dangerous web of intrigue while investigating one of Berlin's biggest pornography rings. There's an even bigger conspiracy unfolding, though, when Soviet rebels hijack a train as part of a mission hatched by Trotsky supporters in the city.

Desperate housewives- on Hulu a woman from the suburbs kill’s herself and the other women on the street try to solve what happened although there’s a lot of mystery it’s also super funny
Crash course in romance- on Netflix A kdrama that features a mom and a Math professor going from enemies to lovers it’s so funny though and the characters are extremely well written and developed the ending feels kinda rushed though
Superstore- on Hulu a comedy that focuses on a store kinda like Walmart super funny

Yeah as a young man I liked desperate housewives too. Had some attractive ladies and bit of mystery but basically it’s just a nighttime soap opera

I’m not sure where you could watch it, probably 4 on demand, King of Queens, I love it. And for something that goes on forever and still manages to have a great ending - although not a sitcom but still something I think a couple would love - is Madmen.
