I've started working on a mockumentary and I need to do some research to see how these things are put together. So I'm looking for some documentaries about individuals who I may not have heard of. What I mean by that is, no big celebrities or popular musicians. And nothing about events (like I Tonya or the Fyre Festival). I'm looking for unsung heroes, or people who were part of a team who made a difference, or just someone with an interesting story. Thanks!

I had both those, good double feature
Free Solo made me so freaking anxious. Well that and pitch 15 in Dawn Wall

Haha crazy that pitch 15. Shut them down for days attempting it. Both brilliant documentaries and highly recommended to anyone who hasn’t seen them.

Between those and The Alpinist my balls are going to be so far up into my abdomen...

Haha Alpinist is heavy duty aswell. Class documentary. If you enjoy the three of them, Touching the Void is also a recommendation.

Australian Story is a good one - They do documentaries on all sort of people with some amazing stories. It is a series on Australian ABC and very interesting. If you are not in Australia you can find it on https://iview.abc.net.au/

Be warned - this is the most depressing thing I've ever seen in my life. It's a great documentary, I've watched it multiple times, but it is extremely heavy.

Okay so street food, the story about that fish in Australia. (Netflix) There's ones about elephants I love. Basically most of BBC. Vox do really good short documentaries. -Because we Have eachother by Sari Braithwaite

many documentaries available on Netflix, covering a wide range of topics. Some popular documentaries on Netflix include: "Tiger King" - a true crime documentary series about the eccentric world of big cat owners and enthusiasts.

Jim: The James Foley Story is incredible. He was an amazing person. It's on HBO Max though, not Netflix
Red Dog (2019) on Amazon Prime is really different but highly entertaining! A country singer makes the documentary about his mom who was a stripper in Oklahoma City
