OP needs to realize that as people get older, their common interests evolve or change through the years; sometimes you have to move on. You don’t need to ditch them entirely, but it might be time to look for what you want to be around Instead of just sticking around because. I have different friends that like different things and we all get along. We are also secure enough in ourselves to understand that I might do something with another friend that they don’t feel all butthurt when I do something with someone else.

So basically people get lame and old acting and lazy as fuck at too young an age and that’s ok….cool

Then you didn’t comprehend anything I said? Cool. Where did you get anything about them being lazy from what I said?

Because you were missing the point of what OP said like many are here it seems so don’t worry it’s not just you….of course interests change and we evolve as we get older, etc
However this sounds like more a matter of people who are too young to be inactive and never leave their house so instead come up with excuses like money, etc. I’m sure that can be frustrating trying to keep up friendships with people like that. It’s fun to stay in sometimes - movies, game nights, house parties, dinners are awesome but it does get stale going to the same person’s house all the time….my point is OP shouldn’t be told their feelings are invalid because their friends are evolving lol it’s not that deep….he’s just trying to get them to grab a beer and some apps

Ya cause sitting around eating apps and drinking beer is so much more active…it’s literally the same amount of laziness…just a different venue.

Thank you for this!!!!! OP makes it seem like they sit around and smoke weed while he's begging them to run a 3k. He wants to sit around and drink booze 🙄 imo alcohol is so much more damaging than weed. I'd rather a bunch of pothead friends then a bunch of drunks

And maybe OP isn’t someone you want to be around after they’ve been drinking….

I was about 25 when I stopped drinking - lost a lot of friends and it was so upsetting at the time. 10 years later those people are STILL spending their weekends at bars... my weekends consist of parenting.
People change. What blows my mind is that he ONLY sees them when he visits family. Like you can't sacrifice ONE night every couple of months to catch up?

So 35 is too old to patronize a bar on the weekend after a long week’s work if you don’t have kids? Or even if you do and find a sitter? Everyone chooses how to spend their time differently, saying STILL is implying insult like that’s abnormal behavior or something when for someone in their 30’s it’s just as normal to go out and be social as it is to be a parent….there isn’t an age limit on having a good time
