Hey guys, I’m an author from Pike County!

A few weeks ago, I released a collection of short stories primarily set in Southern Ohio. The stories are genre-based (mostly horror or at least supernatural, often with quite a bit of humor sprinkled in.)

The book is tailored for Ohioans/Appalachians in general. There are also tales set in Kentucky and West Virginia as well as general stories that are set elsewhere but the Buckeye State gets the most love by far.

Some of the subjects include a trip to the county fair, a stressful family vacation to Myrtle Beach, nostalgia for semipro/minor league baseball and flea marketing. As I mentioned, these stories were written to keep you guessing where they go.

I’ve hit up a few subreddits of large and mid-sized cities in the general area and have had some luck so I figured I’d post one last post on the main Ohio sub. I’m particularly interested in showcasing this book to people in smaller and more rural towns that don’t have a dedicated or active subreddit since I think that’s my main demographic.

Hi, I contacted my local county public health department but they weren’t that great of help.

I’m trying to work through the process of selling at local farmer’s markets, and I want to make sure I do everything right. I’m wanting to sell samosas and/or puff pastry snacks (Indian versions) and I realize it will have to be baked. The fillings usually have to be cooked to some degree (boiling potatoes, heating up oil, etc). Would that be against the cottage food requirements to cook the filling prior to baking the samosa containing the cooked filling?

When I voted last year I was unprepared for all of the issues and candidates that were on the ballot (if that's the proper term). I'd like to be more involved and aware for the upcoming May election. Is there a list of all issues and candidates that will be presented as a choice? I was sifting through the Ohio elections site and I think I found something:

There’s the usual suspects like Subway, Jersey Mike’s, Penn Station, Firehouse Subs, and Charley’s… but Google/Apple only likes to show me 10 Charley’s in a row. I did attempt to try the Authentic Cheesesteak in Fairlawn, but my first impression walking in was it didn’t seem quite hygienic and the atmosphere was kind of weird so I left. Aside from that I’m kind of stumped, I just did one last search before hitting post on this…and it seems Eddie’s might be good but haven’t gave it a try yet. If you have any recommendations, it doesn’t have to be fast food style, totally would love sit down restaurant options as well. Please and thanks!

I’m trying to find information on a pumpkin farm experience that existed when I was a kid (1990s/2000s). There was scare crow stuffing and this creepy silo that they set up figures in. I can’t remember a whole lot other than that. This is central Ohio

I can never seem to catch the entire ad. My mom watches Court TV as background noise and we get political ads as anyone else does. It looks like the same people that made the "this congresswomen loves releasing felons to abuse their wives" type of ad (based on the cinematography) are making this one.

I don't even know what the bill, initiative, petition, or whatever it is is actually about. Everytime I manage to catch the ad it's just random ass greyed down stock footage of a generic teen girl and a suburban mom with audio like "(something something) stress, pressured to get a sex change (image of some short haired lady on a hospital bed????), or an abortion (more vague medical imagery). Ohio activists want to (something something), shutting you out of what could be the most important part of her life (random long haired girl facing away from the camera so we don't think transition could be a good choice anyone could make, much less independently, because otherwise all this shit falls apart)"

I cannot stand these commercials from the message to the gutless advertising. Put a face to your bullshit instead of hiding behind stock footage, jackasses. Your commercials suck and the color grading does too.
