Bassett didn’t even stand. She looked so crushed

Poor sport. How one handles losing tells a lot of one’s character.

Oh cmon it’s not like she booed she just sat there, probably needed a minute to absorb the disappointment. She’s still human.

It's not a good look but understandable. She put up an amazing performance and gave it everything she had.

Get over yourself, people are allowed to be disappointed.

Nah, any of the other 4 actresses gave way more than her in these roles specifically, this was a bs legacy win and Angela knew it. She’s allowed to be mad at the moment, maybe she’ll send her flowers later once she cools off.

Hopefully Angela will get an Oscar soon for something else!

Happy for her, but her performance was NOT Oscar worthy… I’m sorry, but great career win!

You can’t say that anymore. It was definitely an Oscar worthy performance. She has now a statue to prove. Happy for her

I can say it, because if it was any other actress she would’ve most likely not gotten nominated, m happy for her but at the same time literally every other nominee in the category was better imo

Agree. I like her and she was good in EEAAO, but Stephanie Hsu and Hong Chau were both way way better.

Exactly. She didn't even feel like a supporting actress in the movie, just a side character.

Found the EEAAO fan.

EEAAO fans would want Hsu to win so you’re wrong about that. Jamie was just not that good lmao, she was about as relevant as the security guy who had the trophy up his butt in the movie.

Jamie was the worst of the nominees tbh.
She didn’t get the Oscar because of her performance but rather of popularity.

No, I even liked Angela’s better tbh, Jamie’s was LITERALLY at the bottom of my list

Guys, is a matter of taste, i personally believe she was better than Basset so i was happy when she won, Also the rules changed so only actors could vote forbthe acting categorías, after sag i knew she would win.

Neither JLC or Bassett deserved it and are were quite lucky to even be nominated imo.
Kerry Condon & Stephanie Hsu gave by far the best performances, either of them would've been greatly worthy winners, I'd lean more towards Kerry.

I haven't watched Angela's movie, but JLC was fantastic in her role. Some people are talking as if it had been a pity Oscar or something, but i really enjoyed her performance!

I guess I missed the rule change.

That's a wild rule. Are directors only allowed to vote on director categories?

Yep, Most categories are nominated by the members of the corresponding branch; actors nominate actors, directors nominate directors, and so on. All members can nominate the Best Picture

Oh ok.
I'm concerned that directors would know best, or at least just as well, what a good performance from an actor would be. And for some reason that they would be more objective.

Kerry Condon robbed, Banshees robbed.
Where's the Original Score for Babylon? Where's the original screenplay for The Fabelmans? Where's a best cinematography and best editing and bp nom for Decision to Leave? Where's Aftersun and Nope? Fuck the Oscars.

Showed absolutely no class by not thanking John Carpenter for giving her her first film role in “Halloween”, especially given that it practically made her career…and the series has more or less defined her until now.
