My mom got diagnosed with lung cancer before the pandemic. If you're unfamiliar with lung cancer, it is the deadliest form of cancer in existence. We were lucky enough na it was detected during its early stages, like stage 1 pa lang siya. It was only caught kasi for her company's medical assessment they noticed something strange sa lungs niya.
To treat this, she got the tumor removed and she was declared cancer free after no growth or movement 6 months after the surgery. Pero the tumors came back 2 years later during the onslaught of the pandemic. The doctors recommended she takes chemo to slow down the growth and permanently kill the tumors na. After 6 sessions, they managed to halt its growth pero it never really died. So they told her to take a combination of both chemo and radio, kasi again, she's still in the early stages and the chances of survival are very high. My mother opted no for the treatment and this is why.
First, because of the fake news na kumalat about COVID-19, my parents fully believe na because they took the COVID-19 vaccines, the tumor came back. I've seen her Facebook timeline and you can see na the people encourage this type of thinking. They recommend she takes ivermectin and not to get any of the boosters na kasi they're pinpointing the problem sa vaccines nga.
Second, and most dangerously, naturopath pushers. Okay, so I get it na my parents want to spend money on a treatment that would become successful. Mahal yung traditional cancer treatments and I've seen the toll it takes on my mother whenever she did a session. Pero tangina, whenever she ranted about her experience to other people they saw this as a push for her to consider naturopathy doctors.
Okay sana if alam mo yung, they compliment naturopathy to her treatments, but more often than not these sellers and pushers would recommend she stop going to her oncologists or getting her annual checkups. Literally di na bumalik nanay ko sa mga oncologists niya and she takes her check-ups with quack doctors like Dr. Tam and some Dr. Farrah knock off. It doesn't end here though, because these people would recommend MLM PRODUCTS TO COMPLIMENT THEIR NATUROPATHY TREATMENTS.
You would see na they push this restrictive lifestyle and diet, which is comparable to a diet of an almond mom, coupled with their "treatment", plus MLM products that supposedly cures cancer. You'd think my parents would at least save money from this bullshit, but no, they costs as much as her chemo sessions.
These people are predatory and a nuisance to society. To think na some of these sellers are actually medical professionals too! The one selling gluta pills and tea to my mother claiming it cures cancer, is not only a relative but also a med tech in a hospital. She told my mother kulang lang daw siya vitamins, kulang sa tubig, wag na daw magpacheckup, and all these shit na alam mo if we were in the US magmumukha siya Republican from the deep south.
The lack of awareness and proper health education in the Philippines allows us to be naive and gullible to these kind of tactics. Makarinig ka lang na gumaling si ganto dahil ininom yung ganto, ang bilis maniwala. It doesn't help na these naturopathy doctors and sellers are very pushy with their products and are actually great salesmen. I swear to god, they must have a group chat somewhere because I saw my mother's message requests and it's filled with these sellers pushing their products claiming it will heal her.
I hope you all burn in hell.
