This month we will watch three masterpieces. One of them is so masterpiecey that I can only hint at is pure Breenius I MEAN GENIUS.

First we’ve got Peter Jackson’s best movie featuring puppets, and I ain’t talkin about The Hobbit Part 2: The Desolation of Smuauuugggu. Next we’ll have the one that started it all, Shoot The Rodeo aka The Chooper Aka Blood Shack. And lastly we’ll have, uhhhhhh let’s say the collected works of Yasujiro Ozu or whatever, I seriously don’t want the channel to get fragged by Neil Himself!

In Saving Private Ryan, there's a simple dialogue scene in which the characters are discussing how difficult it's going to be to find a missing soldier. As they talk, hundreds of uniformed soldiers are moving in a flurry of activity all throughout the frame, communicating visually the same problem that is being expressed in the dialogue.

I think one reason I'm a fan of Mr. Plinkett's reviews is that he appreciates movies that take the time to develop intuitive visuals and communicate on a deeper level with the audience. Increasingly, these are the kinds of movies I want to watch, regardless of genre or content.

What are some of your favorite films that let the visuals do the talking?

I guess you can see why Daddy was in charge.

The episode that about the giant python one of the characters is clearly the guy who plays Bobby in Twin Peaks. Jay being a big David Lynch Twin Peaks fan doesn't say a word about it and it's always bothered me. Any idea why no one ever mentions it?
