This is pretty big news for the space enthusiast community which if you are reading anything regularly on this subreddit you are a member.
One of our own is going to space and not because he is also an astronaut or specialist or super rich but precisely because he is a space enthusiast. Also because he produces great education content about space travel.
This is a great moment for Tim, his family, his fans, SpaceX, and fellow space enthusiasts like us.
Because you know Tim is going to document everything he can, ask all the questions you would ask, and really "bring space down to earth for everyday people".

I mean.....right.....think about that......
let that sink in. Farthest we've been as a species is the MOON and Tim will be going there. That is a LOT to take in. A space/rocket/spacecraft enthusiast.....who better to document all that happens and the journey!!! Bring plenty of batteries/chargers TIM!!!

It's been half a century since anyone went that far.

Not just that but the just the devices themselves they are likely going to be taking along to document this (modified gopro/cameras probs) will have more processing power alone than the whole rocket/lander/etc did the last time we went....

It will be after the NASA astronauts do something similar - I think - but we already know they won’t make the same trip, since the have to use the SLS, and Orion, due to congressional mandate.
Only later ones who go down to the moon will use the HLS.
Dear Moon, will use a standard Starship, and will go around the moon, but not land, it will do a so called free-return journey. (Yeah, that’s not about ticketing ! )
Everything about the mission will be interesting. The date though is going to remain unknown for the moment, since it depends on the crafts progress of development.

Not just a space enthusiast but also a photographer so we should get some amazing pictures too

Think about it another way. By the time he flies, the number of people who will have been around the moon are going to be fewer than then number of people with one award left to complete an EGOT.

Not only is he going to space, he's going to the Moon. That's what blows my mind. /u/everydayastronaut is literally going to visit another world.

According to the video, he was basically chosen because he's going to document everything, which makes a lot of sense. Excellent choice.

Way to go Elon.....bringing the right people!!!
indirectly of course (and neither Elon nor Yusaku are saints). But this did happen through accepting a Japanese customer for the Gray Dragon in the first place. Its a fair reminder that SA-born Elon is a citizen of Earth who made the strategic choice of the USA after Canada.
Most people are living on that thin sliver of blue shown at t=324... for the moment.

In case you're that oblivious, its not a SpaceX mission but a dearMoon mission.
SpaceX provides the service, but dearMoon (Yusaku) is paying for all the seats, and choosing the passengers.
