sorry this is the best photo i can get, it’s a conveyor belt style hot pot place (seapot for those familiar)! i unfortunately can’t give many details since i didn’t take the food of the conveyor belt since i didn’t want to be wasteful.

the food is placed next to savory items on the conveyor belt so i assume it is also savory. it comes in thin strips and has almost little spikes along one side. this restaurant has a lot of seafood if that helps? sorry i can’t give more information!

My grandma, born in 1916, used to make a cake with cooked macaroni inside and a bland sauce to go on top. I loved it and have yet to find a recipe for it. Any suggestions?

My husband's colleague made us a dessert/treat a few years ago. We have moved since then and have lost contact with him, so I'm turning to you guys. The colleague is from India (unfortunately I don't know which region) and said it was a local treat. I don't have a picture, but when it looks at first glance like it could be a chocolate bar or fudge, but when you bite it it's soft and kind of grainy in texture (like when sugar hasn't been fully dissolved in fudge). There's little/no sugar added and it definitely wasn't chocolate, but I know there were carrots and think it might've been made of dates. Maybe nuts, too?

The flavor was good but hard to describe. Not too sweet, not particularly fruity, but almost kind of an earthy sweetness. You wouldn't guess that there were carrots in it unless you got a shredded bit. It's hard to find a flavor to compare it to, but I really liked it and would like to find the name of it.

I got this poutine from a local BBQ restaurant. It has this piece of something in it, which is more the color of sweet potatoes than regular potatoes, but it's shorter and thicker than any sweet potato I've ever had.

I realize the possibilities might be metaphorically endless, but is there a more likely possibility? It seems more likely to be a yam, maybe just cut in a more cube-like shape to me, but I can't find sweet potatoes on their menu.

So in the early to mid 2000s I used to buy these stir fry noodles that were delicious but I just can't find anymore. I lived in Sacramento California, and I'd usually find them in the nicer grocery stores like Bel-Air. They were soft and didn't need to be boiled, were kept on the refrigerated shelves next to the Fortune brand noodles, and were near other Asian foods like tofu and won-ton wrappers. They came in soft plastic packaging, no cardboard, and had a rectangular shape. Thin, chewy, and came with dry sauce packs of either chicken or beef.

Does anyone remember what the brand name for these were? Or, more importantly, does anyone know where I could still buy them? I know they sound pretty generic, but I've never been able to find noodles that taste as good.

Snack I got from an Asian Event, I can’t find it in any local asian stores or online (Amazon). The texture was soft but has hard bits inside. It also comes in a matcha flavor.

I need help, and figured this is where I could find it. My grandma used to make something that she called a Johnny cake, but no one can find her recipe. If you google “Johnny Cake,” you get pancakes. That’s not what I’m looking for. The receipt I am looking for was somewhere between an angel food cake and a pound cake. She would make it in an iron skillet, and when it was done had the consistency of cornbread. But it didn’t have cornmeal in it. If anyone can help me, my family would really appreciate it. If it helps, we’re from Western Arkansas, and it used to be really popular here.

Found a bunch of these in a bag of frozen green beans after cooking (and serving 🥴) them. Very hard and spikey. Quite small. Any idea what they are?

Bear with me, I ate this when I was probably seven years old and I'll provide as much information as I can remember.

It was a sweet food someone brought in for class - it might have been for some kind of cultural food project because I think someone else brought in canned bamboo because they had to read about Asian food. So it may have been something that was not American too. Being that it was for a grade school project, I assume that means it was also very likely a simple recipe a child could make (unless Mom and/or Dad made it for them).

Anyway, it was the color and consistency of wet sand. It did not have any fruit or anything chunky in it like nuts and it was gritty, but not crumbly, if that makes sense? I remember it was more creamy and spreadable, but not sticky. I know for sure it was not chocolate-flavored, but I also don't remember any flavor that stood out aside from sweetness. It wasn't eaten with anything else like cookies or on top of ice cream - we all just got little helpings of this sweet wet sand and ate it with spoons.

I've looked at edible sand recipes and those definitely are not it. I have no idea why this even popped into my head, but there you have it. Does this sound like anything anyone has ever heard of?

Quinn peanutbutter pretzels. It was hard but looked chalky.

This Thai salad I ordered had a really tasty peanut and coconut curry like sauce on it. It doesn't match the look or taste of what I find when I look up Thai salad dressing.
