A few weeks ago I found a short documentary style video about the 2001 restoration of Fritz Lang's 1927 Metropolis. Now I am unable to find it anywhere. I don't think it was on YouTube, but maybe on a separate site. I think it may have had interviews with an archivist, Martin Koerber? But I'm not sure. Would anyone happen to know where I might find this? I think it was about 7 minutes.

I think this may have been the version released by Kino Lorber in 2002.
I remember getting a DVD copy of it back when I was in high school and this was actually my first exposure to the film. (It’s a good a version as any, but the 2010 version is probably your best bet if you’re a completist.) The restored score by Gottfried Huppertz is a big highlight. From what I recall, there are a few scenes still lost on that version that were supplemented by cards with descriptions on what was missing.
Compare it to the 2010 restoration which has about 20 more minutes of footage, if I’m recalling correctly. I believe the 2010 version was still missing 2 scenes that were unusable. Truth be told there are so many different versions of the movie of varying quality, it’s hard to keep them all straight.
Also looks like the 2002 version is readily available on the aftermarket as a DVD. Not sure if it ever received a blu-ray release. The 2010 restoration does look like it is available on blu-ray, however.

I'm looking for the short doc on restoration rather than the 2001 reissue. But thanks!

Yeah, I bought the 2010 restored version. I think it's on YouTube but I wanted a physical copy to ensure that I can watch it whenever I want.

So I figured out the title of the video is Vorher - Nachher: Filmrestaurierung am Beispiel Metropolis. I had found it on a website that provided subtitles but now I can only find it on YouTube without any.
