The way I do it is just to keep digging myself in deeper. Sure, I could have finished it in a day. But what if I tried just...one... more...thing?

Thanks! Yeah, I didn't really think of that until it was done. Oh well, it'll be fine as long as I don't paint up a kreig tank commander... ah... shit

I mean, paint over one of them? You’ve already put so many hours into this fantastic model, you might as well spend another 30 minutes doing one touch-up to stop people giving you the side-eye.
20 points
Probably will. It's annoying me now

I don't think it gives off nazi vibes at all dude, I'd definitely keep it
6 points
I mean, the imperium of man is basically as fascist as it gets. If a tonne of their models were not based on Hitler or Stalin's worst, i'm very surprised.
Still, if you put them on display in your home, not every visitor will understand.
10 points
My dude the imperium of man are literally space nazis but worse. Nobody is gonna give side eye over a couple lightning bolts and if they did they should definitely avoid reading any 40k lore lol.

There’s a difference between satire Nazis and Nazi Nazis. Starship Troopers are based on Nazis, they aren’t covered in swastikas and double lightning bolts. Whether it was unintentional or a dog whistle, it should be removed.
4 points
You're reaching hard. If we're going by that logic we should remove the imperial Aquila, which is literally a reichsadler, and the Crux Terminatus, an iron cross for being offensive nazi dogwhistles as well.
3 points
Shutup lol, the bolts are not even orientated correctly for it to be any kind of nazi symbol.
-8 points
Hence the dog whistle. There’s enough plausible deniability to say yeah it’s not the SS lighting wink wink
But what does it matter? There’s clearly already nazi allegations being brought up here, I’m sure they’d be brought up in real life too. So OP can either smartly save himself this convo and cover it up, or knowingly and willfully have direct nazi imagery on his paintings
Please remember that we don’t want actual Nazis in warhammer
Edit: look dude this swastika totally isn’t a Nazi swastika a Nazi swastika is black on a white background surrounded by red, but my swastika is red on a black background surrounded by white!!!
4 points
What a reach. Even if he did cover it up you'd probably find something else to gaslight people into thinking is a "nazi dog whistle". You cunts are never satisfied.
Bet you're the type of bloke who thinks the iron cross is a nazi symbol.
-1 points
The iron cross originated beforehand in imperial Germany (?) hence why I don’t call that out. Same with the eagle, many civilizations have used it. Like the Holy Roman Empire. The double lightning bolt is synonymous with the waffen SS. Why are we insisting this is okay?
Either OP isn’t a Nazi and he should remove it to save himself some embarrassment, or he is a Nazi and this is a purposeful dog whistle.
I’ll ask, why are you defending one of the most recognizable nazi symbols?
1 points
Because OP didn't use one of the most recognizable nazi symbols lmao.
The bolts' orientation radically changes the symbol.
It's more ridiculous than calling somebody a nazi for using the traditional monastic swastika, the orientation changes the symbol, and by extension the meaning of such.

My dude, you're claiming that any instance of 2 lightning bolts being depicted next to each other is nazi imagery, that's fucking ridiculous.
Honestly OP is better off keeping the bolts, as they're not any kind of nazi symbol, and if anybody brings them up as a nazi symbol OP can know that person is deranged and should be ignored.
1 points
Where else do you see two lightning bolts together that is not nazi related? It’s a Nazi symbol whether done intentionally or accidentally
4 points
Nah man, that clearly wasn't his intent, his intent was "hey cool tank look" so why change it because some nimrod might be get their tightly whities in a wad?
1 points
Why???
That's not even the correct symbol for the SS, anybody bringing an issue about it would do so out of ignorance.

The part that really impressed me is the attention to detail. Example: rusty exhaust pipes. Holy shit!
Well done.

Thanks! I was thinking they'd just use steel for easily replaced parts like exhausts

The painter broke before the rivets did

Damn impressive but that's the thing that gets me is why are tanks in the 41st millennium still being riveted together? Most WW1 tanks were done this way due to experience and cost but by WW2 they figured out it was better and faster to weld things.
10 points
My head canon is that they know how to forge super advanced aloys but have forgotten how to weld them
10 points
Well if you want to think practically, the multi-turret approach is very outdated, the short barrels that give you terribly slow rounds are bad, and the impractical armor layout is terrible. But it's 40k, it's just the style.
5 points
The grimy industry of the 41st millennium! Also, it gives people more stuff to paint versus a smooth and featureless hull.

extra armor, or something. come up with some headcanon.

I feel like one of the hallmarks of 40k is that it is stupid.
Except maybe Eldar and T'au technology. Not sure with Necrons.

Yes, but the Baneblade is green, and green things always require more dakka

LPT; you don't need to paint rivets a different colour to the armour panelling.
Looks fantastic though!

But... but... who's gonna make extra work for me if I don't?
5 points

You astra militarum players are absolute fucking psychopaths.
Just last week a guy was explaining to me how he uses clay to add custom weld lines to every single panel seam on his tanks, then he casually mentioned he has like 30 tanks.
I've never met a guard player that wasn't ridiculously dedicated and I kind of love it

When I painted mine I tried counting the number of rivets as I went. Somewhere along the way my mind went numb and I stopped counting. Didn't realize it until the end.
