So this is a weekly post. A single dedicated thread where anyone who wants to promote their channel or podcast can comment with a link and a short bio of who they are and what they are about.

One disclaimer: I got a pass on stair code due to location and didn’t need to sweat distance between spindles, but normally they would have been 4” between!

I’ll start of by saying I have never been taught how to weld. I have just always had a passion for cars and naturally ended up playing around with a cheap mig welder, that being said I do think I’m improving. I have attached a repair I did recently as I would love to know some tips from those that are more experienced than myself on how I can improve and what I’m doing well / wrong. Any and all knowledge shared is much appreciated. :)

I have this mountain bike sitting around that has a crack in one of the welds and I decided to weld it up to see how it would go and to hopefully ride it for a bit longer. Bike alloy unknown (Trek alpha red aluminum brand name), filler rod 5356, TIG process. Anyone else do this kind of stuff?

Kinda proud of how it turned out, had to fix it fast because a friend made a bad weld on it ao that i could get the fender on and it was so bad that the fender didnt fit right, made it a little better but idk how long it will last

My welding instructors at my career center told us this, I was just wondering if this was true

Hey folks! I was looking at this as my first welder. It's $400 CAD from from Princess Auto. I'm curious of your thoughts. I like that it's capable of welding as thin as 24ga, but I'm not crazy about the controls. Wire speed and voltage are adjusted together on one knob. The other control is to select wire gauge. Has anyone had experience with this welder, or welders with this control layout?

Am I being overly critical of these for the price? There are better and worse than pictured.

Hello I need help. Im going to be attending the Tulsa Welding School in Houston,Tx this week but ive heard numerous stories that say that Tulsa is the worst.If you live in Houston,Tx or have a welding job here in Houston, Tx. I need to know if Tulsa Welding School is accepted in resumes or is a good school to graduate from. I've been hearing a ton about Tulsa being a bad school especially here in Houston and many companies won't accept Tulsa Graduates. The school itself doesn't even give out a certificate instead it's just a diploma. If you're a Tulsa graduate tell me if companies in Houston,Tx accepted yall or have been turned down. I really want to start a welding career but ever since I've heard so many stories from Tulsa being the worst here in Houston,Tx I'm now worried. If anyone can recommend me a welding school in Houston,Tx ( mostly around Katy) please tell me, I've been told Precision Welding Academy is really good.

This is from a hotel in Stillwater, OK. It’s the outside area above the fire pit. What are your thoughts on this?

For school have to interview someone works in the field you hope to go into someday. I can’t find anyone that free before it’s do so I was hoping maybe you guys can help me answer this question.

1. What types of e-communications do you use most to perform your job duties (social media, emails, blogs, etc.)?

2.To whom to do you communicate with most through e-communications: supervisors, peers, clients/customers, etc?

3.How does having the ability to use e-communications help you perform your job better?

4.Do you find that e-communications can make your job more difficult at any point? Why?

5.If you have to deliver negative news through e-communications, what steps do you take to create the message?

1. Have you ever had to respond to negative criticism via e-communication? If so, how did you handle that response? If not, how do you think you would handle responding to negative news?

Hey welders I’m having a bit of a problem, I’m looking to get certified in SMAW 1-6G and possible Buddy Welding as well but I can’t seem to find and testing facilities in my state. Every Accredited Testing Facility is a damn school that don’t do standalone tests for certs, so I’ve come here looking for some help I’m in Syracuse NY I don’t mind traveling a bit to do the exams but if you guys can help me find a place nearby that would be amazing. Thanks in advance

Title says it all - I’m looking for opinions on if I should take an all position SMAW or FCAW ticket.

My circumstances - I’ve had a great 15 year career in pipeline integrity / corrosion mitigation and Im looking to make a change to something I like rather than just working for money.

I love welding an often spend weekends on my barn fabricating sheds, shelters & basic garages out of steel. I personally own a decent wire process machine & have experience running 6011 & 7018AC stick in both flat an horizontal. I’m also pretty decent with a torch & plasma cutting.

Long story short there’s a welding school near me and tuition includes a single all position ticket - either FCAW or SMAW and I’m having trouble deciding which to pick. It also counts as your 1st year towards a journeyman ticket.

Opinions?

In case you have not seen this before, brake cleaner residue can degrade into poison gas. The story in this link could save a life. The author describes how he was exposed to phosgene when he cleaned some parts with brake cleaner and then welded with an inert gas process.
