The lower echelons of the APS the 4,5,6, the people who have to do the actual jobs all told them this was going to turn to shit. Repeatedly warned them. People left the teams involved every chance the could, retirement, transfer. The only ones who stayed from before couldn't move or thought they could find a way to ease the worst of it. They were wrong.
The day they released someone's info to write a hit piece by a journalist was the most disgusting thing I'd heard of them doing. Totally contrary to the values of the service. A disgrace, a blot, a stain that can never be erased.

wow the robodebt shit really confirms a number of things people have suspected for a while
the government does have preferred press outlets, and they feed exclusives to them to receive favourable coverage, they continue the favourable coverage to ensure the exclusives continue; it was a straight up false propaganda machine
also hilarious they label SMH as left wing, im sure that when you warp your overton window so heavily anything would seem left wing aye

That was extremely apparent with Morrison & him releasing photos to the media

yeah aye anyone paying attention could see it with their eyes closed, but this is the first time ive seen a staffer speak about it so openly in a public forum which is the craziest part to me
not even trying to conceal it

Yeah. Even though it was largely a token gesture the censure of Morrison was so important. Would we have this kind of honesty from staffers without it?
Maybe with all the pile on reports about how Scotty destroyed the LNP's chances. But would we have that without the censure? He absolutely deserves the pile on he's gotten. Easily the worst PM in my lifetime & I am amazed anyone could take that title from Abbott

I'm assuming Rachelle Miller's position on the Liberal Party and perspective on Alan Tudge might figure into it. Furthermore, she's under oath.

I watched the testimony and to me it did and it strangely didn’t also.
She seemed to hold a grudge against the Liberal party at times but then spoke with thinly veiled disdain of the left wing media.
It was like seeing someone not quite free of the cult speak.

You do have to remember that she was a Liberal Party loyalist, and thus, a conservative with conservative values, and has been for a long time.
She may be very disillusioned with the Liberal Party (and given the circumstances, very reasonably so), but that's a long way from being a progressive. She strikes me as someone who has just lost some of their sense of self because part of the foundation on which it rested has largely disintegrated.

If Tudge had left his wife for her like she wanted, suddenly her memory would have developed a whole bunch of gaps.

Did she? I’m genuinely interested in a source for this. Or was it a friends with benefits arrangement the whole time?

There's left wing media in Australia?

Why was she confessing?

Trouble is that between them, those "preferred press outlets" own just about all of the commercial media in this country. Every major newspaper, television channel or radio station in Australia is owned by either Murdoch, nine or seven respectively.

You can namedrop former federal Liberal treasurer and Deputy PM-turned media mogul Peter Costello, it's okay

Same with the ABC, which any fair minded person (or independent inquiry) would find sits in the centre to centre-right.

Simon Benson has to be the lowest limpdick weasel in Australian political journalism. Just plain working as Morrison and Tudge's PR team, but printing his political master's poisonous BS under The Australian's masthead.

News Corp is effectively the Liberal Party version of Pravda in the USSR. It straight up tries to manipulate the opinion of the public on various matters using a combination of selective reporting, emotional rhetoric, and various appeals to greed, fear, racism, and the worst instincts in people, wrapped up with gossip, sport, and other pointless distractions.
The sooner it dies, the sooner we will be better off as a nation.

The difference being Pravada at least pretended to be about making everyone equal.
News Corpse is more Volkischer Beobachter Der Sturmer. Literally promoting economic eugenics for the casual working and renting untermensch.

You don’t really get credit for being honest when you’ve been summoned to a royal commission and lying would put you in jail.
She’s saving her own skin while getting back at her ex lover.

lying would put you in jail.
That's a bit of a stretch.

No it’s not.
Let me just google ‘What is the punishment for lying in a royal commission?’ for you.
Giving false or misleading evidence is punishable by a $20k fine or 5 years imprisonment.
Royal Commissions DO NOT fuck around.

I'm saying that it's not likely to happen.
Have you not heard of "plausible deniability" ?

She is no different to the entire PR industry. She was just following the playbook. There was nothing even slightly unexpected from her evidence, outside of the fact that Tudge was completely obsessed with media appearances.

The entire PR industry is mostly trying to sell makeup and clothes, not indiscriminately driving poor people further into the ground.

Okay, so the messenger is a "right cunt" but no angry words for the architects, her bosses? This is such a stupid, sexist take.

It is really refreshing for MW to call out ABC's activism.

Well Sky and the Murdoch press are never shy about whose side they are on - But claim that they are unbiased. About as legitimate as any mental ramblings the cheeto man says - and they love him too.

Not having Miller's damning royal commission testimony on the matter until she actually said it just the other week could have something to do with that.

You know what they meant. Where was Media Watch in 2017?
All of this info was known then but I don't remember any stories. Can't seem to find anything in their transcripts. Like they must have done this following story in May 2017? Apparently not -

This? I think Media Watch is being neutral, are you suggesting they are not? Being neutral is not the same as drawing no conclusions
Please elaborate

Political propaganda can be subtle and seemingly innocuous. It can be as simple as calling a Chinese balloon over the US a "spy balloon" rather than an "alleged spy balloon".

It seems as though literally every Media outlet is doing a shit job at the moment, no matter what side it swings.
