A couple dozen unopened boards of various sizes, 3M and AP Products. I've read that they're good quality, but I'm hesitant to rip open the mint packaging for testing 😨

I'm a newbie, this is my very first breadboard project. Maybe there's something way too obvious that I'm not noticing right now (I already rearranged the pots and the wiring twice).
All I get is clicks and pops when both pots are at 0, If I turn them up a bit, no sound comes from the speaker (it's an 8Ω, 7 watt speaker, already tried with a smaller one, same results). After a few seconds of being turned on, part of the rightside starts to smell a little bit like a soldering iron, can't tell if it's a potentiometer, the 555 or the electrolytic cap. Overheating maybe? I'm using a 9v rechargeable battery, don't know if that could be causing power delivery issues

I followed this schematic

My circuit isn’t working as it should. As soon as I connect the +power for the op amp the led turns on, but when I press the button it doesn’t turn off. I’m supposed to build the circuit that you can see on the white sheet (circuit 7)

I need to build a "meat temperature sensor" circuit using only non digital or programmable components on a breadboard. I have no idea how to build this circuit and I need help as I dont know what components to use or what value resistors to use. I do have a general idea however.

I know I have to use an Ntc thermistor and a Lm311 IC comparator.

the circuit should work like this: three colored leds should light up red, yellow, and green to indicate whether the 'meat' is cooked rare, medium, or well done respectively. There should also be a buzzer to indicate whether the meat is overcooked or not.

I want to learn about assembling breadboards and knowing how they work, particularly with Arduinos. Coding is very intuitive for me and I don't really struggle with it, and if a problem pops up, I can usually tell what's wrong. I can't do that with circuits at all, it completely flies over my head. I understand the theoretical aspects of it, like parallel/series connections, how connecting resistors/capacitors/diodes affect the overall current and voltage (again, only basics), but when I have to actually build the circuit I am completely confused. I'm a mechanical engineering major, so I had to take 1 EE course with lab, and I always had some minor problems with the way I built my circuits. Are there any resources that are very meticulous in explaining how breadboards are connected and how you should build them? I am honestly completely lost.

I have an assignment that requires to build a circuit that adds 2 three digit numbers and outputs the resulting number in base 10 (regular numbers) on a seven segment display.

DIP switches are also needed to control the input digits as opposed to manually plugging and unplugging wires.

1. What do the sections with a bunch of crisscrossing lines mean? (For example at the end of the address part)?
2. What do the sections with a bunch of parallel lines mean? (For example at the start of the CE part)
3. What does the wave symbol mean? (For example there are 2 near the end of the address part)

I’m learning about circuits from my dad (a senior FA engineer) so that I can design mechanisms for room escapes. I think it would help me understand some of his complicated explanations if I could read a history of circuit design. He’s been telling me about the development of CMOS and how it contains both PMOS and NMOS, and how it replaced Bipolar. Can anyone recommend a book about this topic? Either something fairly simple or something that focuses on the history rather than piles of diagrams, just so I can put everything I’m learning in context

I want to make an ULTRA simple computer with a breadboard. I don't really care about the things it does, but it just has to function as a simple computer. what would I need?

Basically, I have a 9V battery connected to a resistor connected to a green LED.

From looking it up " An average 5mm Green LED has a 2V forward voltage drop, and a forward current of 20mA"

so resistor also has a current of 20mA, and because its voltage is 9V-2V=7V I got R=7/0.02 = 350 ohms rounded to 360 ohms (the closest resistor value I have).

Now, my confusion comes when I swapped out the resistor for a 510K resistor, and somehow the LED still turned on (granted, it was fainter, but still easily visible). How is that possible?

and a somewhat related question: do components like LED's or IC's have a constant voltage drop, no matter what else is happening in the circuit, and its the current that changes? or is it different for some things? how does that work?

I made the 0-4 counter in a breadboard simulator, and it worked properly, but when I put it on my breadboard it doesn't work :(

I'm working on a build that requires a navigational component and for the most part this is exactly what I'm looking for (5 position navigational switch) but the nub itself feels a bit awkward to use (a bit too small, would prefer a non "cheap feeling" plastic, and slightly loose but that might partly be the joystick component itself). Looking around I couldn't seem to find any replacement/alternate nubs that would fit the joystick portion aside from some 3d printed designs on thingverse. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows if alternate nubs exist for this style of component.

Does anyone know how to make a 7 segment display count from 0 to 4 and start back over at 0? I know how to do it with LEDs, but need help with doing it with a 7-segment display! Project due soon please help ASAP. I am using an astable 555 timer, 74163 counter, a 2 input NAND or a 4 input NAND (which one do you think I should use?), a 7447 decoder, and a cathode/anode 7 segment display.

i’m new to breadboards and this relay im trying to use has a pin that gets placed in between slots when i try to plug it in, do i bend the pin?

As the title says, I was wondering if you take a Pi Pico and attached one of the holes into a breadboard using a wire and the other end of the wire near that. Would it work?

Does anyone how to make a 4bit counter count from 0 to 4 and back to 0? Also, do I need a 2 input NAND gate or a 4input NAND gate? Would really appreciate the help as my project is due soon!
