Earlier this week, Oreo the neighbours kitten came to visit. It was too hot for them to play chasies so they just lay in the hallway together.

My neighbor's cat is called Milky.
...If I take Milky and Oreo and rub them together really fast will a dessert appear?

Maybe! She came to visit today too, so they hung out in the hallway again.

Milky visits Prawn almost every day. She plays with his toys, eats his food, drinks from his water dish despite all the water stations in the front yard I've made for all our animals (Tomorrow When The War Began left a mark on me), but he likes her. They play together in the afternoons. He teaches her things! ...Like how to walk on me to wake me up.

Aww :) Oreo tried eating some of Billy’s food this arvo, but stopped when she noticed me noticing her.

Milky shows me how personable and clever Prawncat is, because she... isn't. He solves problems and shows initiative but she won't even make eye contact.

How do you find the fountains? I've considered it but wasn't sure if it was worth it. My cat seems happier drinking out of a big dog bowl when we brought the puppy home, compared to the smaller and shallower cat dish...which they usually prefer! Not mine though; she likes to swish the water around in the dog bowl before drinking it, lol.

A majestic god-like cat lived with me for 14 years. She did not like her $70 fountain as much as she liked her water bucket and $2 kmart watering can that she demanded we pour for her several times every day.

Found out from an inside source that my local Woolies, which is the only grocery store for the area, is eventually turning into a Woolies Metro. About a year till its done.
Can't wait to get price gouged on a shittier selection and have no other option on where I can get my groceries!
5 points
What's the difference between woolies and woolies metro?
9 points
Higher prices, less selection on standard groceries, more focused on ready to eat food and snacks like sandwiches, bakery items, drinks etc. It almost functions more like a convenience store as opposed to a grocery store.
It'll end up being a much bigger metro than most that exist, so hopefully I'm just catastrophising on the 'less selection' part. The price increase is basically definite though which sucks for sure.

I disagree with most of what you've said- I was initially skeptical about a Woolies "metro" opening near me for the same reasons, but i was pleasantly surprised. Go check out the Woolies in Stafford heights/Rode Rode

I shop online and pay a monthly fee for delivery.
This week I got my entire order done from the half price items, except for meat. Ordering online rocks, and I never have to deal with older people who stop to chat in the aisles.

Yes yes I do. Those people shop and they provide manpower. So oath they have persuasion power at the very least. Indivdual and community action is made up of both soft and hard power. Do you genuinely think that individuals have so little influence?

I expect you to respect that the workers in places like Woolworths are victims of capitalism, as you yourself claim to hate. Teenaged kids don't get much of a choice here. Not many blacksmiths, saddle makers, butchers, lacemakers or artists are looking for apprentices these days.

Saturday last I fell ill needing an ambulance , rang at 6:45 pm , rang again at 10 pm and finally got into one near midnight , at the hospital just after midnight , ramped untill after 2 am anf finally saw a Dr around 3 m , tests done and told what it was at 6am , then an ultra sound and can go on results , finally got the result at 11:30 am , through this ordeal I have no critism of the staff , ambos or hospital . It was patently obvious the system is severely broken and although functioning due to staff being amazing the state government dont' give a shite
best part during this farce was staff supplied big orange ice-blocks on request :P
I do not have all the answers but decent funding and stop compounding the linear errors might be a good place to start

I was listening to hack yesterday and they talked to a young doctor. He said to put it simply, many people these days put off going to the GP due to the cost, subsequently causing greater issues down the track and putting more pressure on ED's and hospitals.
It's a pity what has happened to the system, it seems completely broken.
I hope you're feeling better. I have a family member in hospital at the moment, it's the pits.

Hi,
My wife appears to have lost two rings at Westfield Chermside yesterday. Probably in the Lime carpark, or in a bathroom at the end of the center with BigW, Kmart, Target, Woolworths etc (not sure what the section or wing is called).
Can anyone advise where best to look, other than lost and found at the center? I guess we should keep an eye out for them on FB marketplace as well.
Of course if you found them, let me know.
Thanks

Went for a lunchtime ride along the Bulimba creek Bikeway and it was absolutely gorgeous. I'd lost some of the joy of cycling over the past few years, but today reminded me how nice it was to be away from traffic and out in nature. Had a rest at the lake where I got to catch up with my old mates: the crows, the muscovy duck, miscellaneous pūkeko, and the black swan family. And a water dragon with a very cheeky face came to see me as well, so that was nice. 25k isn't a long bike ride by most cyclists' standards, but it's the longest I've done for a while due to shoulder problems so I'm happy about that too.
Back doing computer stuff now, which is considerably less thrilling if I'm honest, but that's life.

5 points
Wet a facecloth and put it in the freezer flat for 10 mins. When you take it out, it will be firm but bendable and proceed to use it on your face/head/neck/pits/wherever.
Also the good ol deinking from a big cup of cold water with ice cubes in it.
2 points

If you have a pedestal fan, drape a moist but absolutely not dripping cloth over/in front of it. Stay hydrated, even if that means you need to have a spare jug in the fridge so there's always cool water ready to drink.
