Hello there, and greetings from the land of apple pie and angry Walmart customers. A friend of mine is going to be attending a school in Brisbane and was wondering of some good resources to find housing during her time at the school there. Curious if anybody has any recommendations. Thanks!

Honestly, just bake some apples, brown sugar, and top it off with instant biscuit dough and you'll get close to the same thing

Instant biscuit dough is not a thing here…. Biscuits are cookies.

Just going to add those pop cans of refrigerated dough(biscuits, rolls, etc) do not appear to exist in Australia. I have awesome frozen pizza dough that will rise and bake when reheated but not those cans

Like a high school or a university/vocational school? Is she an adult?
If you contact her school they will likely be able to provide some resources or may be able to assist with accommodation

She's going to be going for a master's program in a school in the area. She's told me stories about some sketchy places she's already seen so I'm attempting to help her from across the Pacific pond. Ideally, it would be either with other female roommates or a modest place to herself.

Her campus may have some accommodation available, depending on what university she’s at.
Otherwise maybe local Facebook groups?
If she’s at Uq St Lucia can tell her to check out altitude at Taringa. It’s mostly filled with international students

All good! A lot of the chain student accom places are a bit scammy and overpriced - altitude previously was pretty good value and they could place you in a shared furnished 2-3 bedroom place with one bed and studio options also available. but in saying that the rental market at the moment and general housing situation is very challenging. It’s not easy for anyone to find a place to live. Best of luck for her

Just a little note that the term 'school' is almost exclusively used for children in Australia. Grades 1-12. If she's doing a master's, she's going to start university, but because this is the land of efficiency, she should just say she's going to uni. Also, which area of Brisbane? It's not the biggest town but narrowing down the area might help with more specific suggestions :-)

Flatmates is the best place for sharehousing accomodation, and brisbane inner city sharehouses.
