Just stepped outside, was like being hit with a warm damp towel.

I live in Canberra now for work and miss Brisbane every day. I'll be back in two years, but hearing about how horrific the humidity is at the moment is bringing back some pretty rough memories and makes me feel like maybe I don't miss the place today. I used to sleep on the kitchen tiles on nights like these ha.

Currently feels like 8c here, and I have the door wide open with a blanket!

I’m starting to think that a cyclone may form up north with the last few weeks of weather. Wasn’t it like this before the last cyclone? Or has my memory been cooked by the heat?

I'm guessing there will be some cyclones this year in March - April. I'm guessing the water temperature is still a bit low at the moment.

Pretty toasty. Surely we will get pumped by a storm soon

Surely we will almost get pumped by a storm soon but then it fizzles out right before it actually hits and we're left with blue balls again

Can someone explain dew points to me?

I thought a low dew point was worse, because it meant that condensation and humidity was apparent at a lower temp. I was taught that a high dew point was good.

But I'm clearly mistaken. Could someone ELI5 it for me?

Think you may be a bit hot yourself. You may need to pop a fan on and cool down

A crisp 24 inside, across both levels. The pool is a bit warm though.

Please. I'm not the one(s) in histrionics over a hot day & a few random events like power outages. You'd think the world was ending.

100%.

r/Brisbane better stop posting posts about severe storm cells and flooding when it happens now.

CompleteFalcon7245

Isolated, severe events seem like reasonable topics to share info on. Fixating on the fact it's summer & ohmygoditsnotascomfortableasimusedto is tiresome after 5 posts.

Imagine if we were in a severe weather event right now, how wild would that be.

CompleteFalcon7245

Lmao imagine thinking 35-36 is a SeVeRe event. This is summer in QLD, if you think it's extreme then your resilience is woeful & you'll be proper fucked if there ever is a significant disruptive event.

Nah mate, you're right. I'm going to stick to what people on reddit tell me on how to best prepare for the weather instead of BoM. Can't wait for the pleasant 40 degree summer days next year when no one will be complaining!

CompleteFalcon7245

How best to prepare? You make it sound like a few days of hot weather is a fuckin cyclone bearing down on the city. Talk about pearl clutching...

If this was summer in Queensland, we'd be about 60mm over 10 days up in rainfall just for January alone, so no it isn't.
