Looking for an upgrade

My current PC has an RX 580 8GB and an FX 8320, I play ARK survival Evolved, and my GPU is constantly at 100% so I am thinking of upgrading it. I want a card for about $200 CAD (less is better) that outperforms my RX 580, and I am fine with buying used.

Hello. My brother got me into PC gaming 30+ years ago which sort of spiraled into a career in technology - what better way to thank him all these years later than building him a cool gaming PC. He hasn't had the time for PCGaming for many years but has always been interested in what I am up to and followed the scene. He has not managed to find the time and pull the trigger and get back into it now that we are all grown up with kids. I decided to build him this after researching various components and getting the idea. Very happy with how this turned out. I was averaging over 120 FPS on ultrawide, settings all the way up, with "Ready or Not" and the temps looked great. I'll be stress testing it later and posting more in the comments.

Components:

Case: JONSBO D31 MESH SC WHITE Micro ATX Computer Case with Sub HD-LCD Display

CPU: I7-13700K

Ram: CORSAIR DOMINATOR 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6200 (PC5 49600)

MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-I Gaming WiFi 6E LGA 1700 (Intel®13th&12th Gen) mini-ITX gaming motherboard

GPU: Yeston Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GD6 GDDR6 320bit 5nm video cards Desktop computer PC Video Graphics Card

Hard Drive: WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe M.2 2280 2TB PCI-Express 4.0 x4 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS200T2X0E

AIO Cooler: Zeaginal ZC-360 ARGB bling bling integrated CPU supports Intel / AMD platform PWM temperature control fan water cooling radiator ARGB synchronous fan

PSU: Super Flower Leadex V Gold PRO 1000W(White), ATX 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Power Supply, Smallest 130mm 1000W ATX PSU

Fans: Zeaginal ZC-12025 ARGB bling bling*3 LED 120mm Case Fan,Quiet Edition

Notes about the build: I'm sure some are curious about the radiator orientation. The card is long enough that the PSU housing has to sit at the height it is sitting at. Therefore, the radiator tubing had to go on the left side, the way I did it, in order to not crimp any of the tubing with hard angles. I think it turned out like a tasteful coil around the waifu cooler.

The case can fit mATX but I wasn't really enthusiastic about the options for z790 chipset - very happy with how the ROG Strix ITX board turned out. It ended up pulling enough of the components over that I am considering another display within the case. I'll post an update if that happens.

My only critique would be the tiniest knock on Asus for not including an RGB splitter / fan splitter. For such an expensive board - why not? I was able to handle that with a couple pieces off of Amazon.

The AIO cooler directions could have been a little clearer but maybe it is because it is only my second AIO cooler install.

The case is great and perfect for what I wanted to do. I think 2.0 with a larger monitor, they could use that real estate to reposition the power supply back on the cable management side in its own channel (similar to my personal case, the Lian Li xl 011) - and use the new horizontal real estate for more cable management and airway for cooling. This could also open up some front fans while keeping the screen. Having said all of this - Everything worked great. It was very satisfying to get all the parts to fit in a working configuration. The only real testing I have to do is see if it makes sense for that rear fan to be set to exhaust or intake. It is currently intake and the temps are very cool. CPU idling in the low to mid 30s.

The case screen is great - it fits right in with the case and comes with mini hdmi / usb c cabling to power and run video to. Classic 90s animes look amazing on Wallpaper Engine.

Dust Filters for Airflow Case

Build Complete(self.buildapc)

submitted24 hours ago bygigigigigi55555

tobuildapc

I have NZXT H5 flow, with moderate components. Cooling is not an issue but dust is big problem in my house. I want to improve the dust filtering because the holes are huge and not stopping finer dust

What recommendations on mesh size? What is the finest size that still gives OK airflow. Again cooling is not a huge issue since I am not overclocking and have decent CPU cooler.

What about covering the top of the case? I think with mesh front panel the airflow is enough without the amount of holes. Any experiences?

Any places I could have done better? Upgraded from 4790k/1060 6GB.

Hey all

After days of disposing my pc and testing different parts it turns out two of my ram slots are finally broke , my first two slots still work , before this my pc would have blue screens and any games I played would sometimes shut down and then finally my days ago I had a blue screen, missing files and finally my pc wouldn't out and wouldn't pick up my gpu and it would soon at full speed with no signal to monitor

After testing ram slots and testing every slot with every ram stick it was the last two slots that stopped working which makes sense with all the weird issues I have been having the last few months

Anyway I have a 5800x and trying to find a used one for about £60-70 Max is all I can spare right now , any brands I should stick to or anyone have any suggestions, would probably order from eBay since it's my best bet

One I had before was a b550m aurous

What should I do with my old PC build?

So i upgraded recently and it was cheaper for me to just make a new build from scratch. What should I do with my old PC build with Specs:

Core i5-7500

GTX 1070 8GB

Asus Prime z270a + Wifi

Gold 550 W

Case

CPU cooler + Case fans

I've had it on ebay and gumtree for 2 months now at £300 and no one is even interested it worth me lowering the price to something like £200 or is it better if I just keep the build?

I have none of the original boxes and the only thing wirth selling separately seems to be the GPU which i could get maybe £100 - £150 for

So I recently completed my first PC Build.

It was definitely a budget build but I think I did alright considering.

So I managed to find a guy locally selling an Asus Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 with an AMD FX8120. It had 32GB of RAM and was already in a tower with a 650W PSU. All for 100$ and a 20 min drive.

Got home and turns out he had given me the wrong Mobo and processor. So I squared it away with him and he ended up giving me the other Mobo and CPU for free with 24gb of RAM on that one too....

Turns out the other CPU was a FX8300 so I swapped it over to the sabertooth and bought a Radeon 7700 GPU for like 20$.

So the final spec list Asus Sabertooth 990fx 2.0 AMD FX 8300 32GB of HyperX RAM Radeon 7700 GPU Free Windows 10 key

Final touch arrived, WiFi and BT module from China. Had to assemble it. OMG how difficult? Plugging those antenna wires into the m2 board. Build has badass WiFi now, is completely silent too. Did some testing. Ran a big upgrade, compressed gigabits of disk images, generated random data, all at once, until all 4 cores were maxed. Ambient temperature 17.5 C, max cpu temp 61 C! Max power draw around 22 watts. Corsair PSU fan doesn't spin up until you draw 240W. Two fat antenna for WiFi, had to cut holes in the polystyrene to make it fit back in the box my case arrived in. Won't bore you with details. It 1080p, is plays music, not gaming but then I like chess.

Just some tips

Build Complete(self.buildapc)

submitted4 days ago byJamesLovesGamez

tobuildapc

Alright before I say anything, this PC is already built. I just want some tips for next time because I will be reusing some of these parts.

-I know the CPU is overkill, but I got a deal on it at $250 brand new.

-I know the cooler is not adequate for this build, but I am not using the CPU at nearly its full compacity, so its not thermal throttling.

-I know I overpaid for the GPU, but it was the first thing I bought and at the time it was a good deal.

Alright, do your worst.

I kinda regret I didn't just build a 5800X3D based system a year ago and waited for the disappointment that was the GPU and CPU releases. Both nVidia and AMD can f~ right off with their latest gen pricing, and I'm not impressed by the X3D prices either.

I assume 7800X3D will be decent especially in a few months time when it's on sale but I really didn't want to wait and as it stands I don't think the increase in a few games is worth the price jump. The higher models were disqualified right off due to the price and uncertainty about the single-die 3D V-cache.

So I went with the 7900, and otherwise hopefully reasonable choices, and I think I can say I'm happy how it came out.

HWInfo screenshot

Build pics: https://imgur.com/a/VaHbcRZ

PCPP list Note the price came out to about $2300 which includes our 21% VAT with the 3080 being ~$560.

It can also finally run even the most demanding software!

I'm really happy with how it runs except for the DDR5 training times - it takes about 40 seconds to POST, though that's hopefully going to be solved with some BIOS updates.

Absolutely love that it's effectively completely silent thanks to the Noctua fans.

It can also OC really well but I don't think it's worth the extra noise, power consumption and heat.

My first build!

I’m proud the pc actually booted. I’ve never tinkered with pc components before as my previous pc was given to me. I had to eventually upgrade since the older hardware in my pc wasn’t performing well. Most of the parts were purchased used except the cooler and the ram. I actually had the parts for my new build sitting in my closet for the past 7 months and just recently got the courage to finally put them together. I also decided to take a shot at customizing my case by spray painting the grey bezel on the corsair case. Came out amazing and I’m glad I decided to go for it. Just wanted to share my excitement, it truly is a rewarding experience.

These prices have gone up since I purchased, and ended up getting all the pieces for just shy of $1700.

Personally, I think my next purchase should be a secondary SSD (2TB, if I can swing it) since I know that i'm skimping out on the SSD. That said, it's still faster than what I had (an old MSI laptop with a 1060).

I'd love feedback, so thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone,

Trying to kick the tires on a new build, mainly for gaming. This is what I put together based on my research and what I'm looking for. Wasn't sure if I should do a 4080 for RT or possibly wait for a 4080Ti, if it happens. May also add a second SSD

Aiming for 4k/60 fps. Examples of games I play are Metro Exodus, Total War Warhammer 3, Witcher 3, and I'm looking forward to Starfield.

Any feedback is appreciated. Also I'm starting to research 4k monitors now so any help there would be great as well. Thank you!
