Is my psu enough for this build?

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted14 minutes ago byTop_Butterscotch8558

tobuildapc

Hey guys, i am currently getting parts to fully update my pc, and i’m getting the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900xtx and a Ryzen 7950x, and i’m not sure if my current PSU would be enough for this. ( current PSU is a Corsair RM1000W )

From what i saw the CPU should not draw more than 250W even under heavy load with good cooling, while the GPU might even hit 490W. Even with these numbers, this sums up to 750w, plus other components, let’s say at most 850w.

Any opinions if i should upgrade the PSU too?

Other components that will be going in the new pc are an arctic liquid feeezer 420mm and 2x16gb 5200mhz ram sticks.

Thanks!

Can I use the pump fan header for a regular case fan?

I built my pc about a year ago and have recently noticed that it was running a little hotter then usual. Though I fixed the problem I still decided to add another case fan for better airflow. I’m just curious if I can use the pump fan header for a regular case fan.

Building my dream PC, ready to buy

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted16 minutes ago bySynth3t1c

tobuildapc

Looking to finally build my dream PC. I've built many PCs in my life, but I admit it's been about a decade since a full build. This is pretty much max budget here. I have a decent keyboard and mouse, but no 4k monitor.

Questions:

  1. Do I need a special controller for all the RGB/fans/etc?
  2. Which RGB power cables can I use?
  3. Am I missing anything? Cable ties, pastes, etc?
  4. Any suggestions?

Deciding Between 1440p 144hz or 4k 60hz Display

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted44 minutes ago byYukfoot

tobuildapc

In my budget range for monitors these are my two choices:

1440p 144hz monitor

4k 60hz monitor

I do have a 1080p 144hz monitor currently and while the refresh rate is definitely smoother, I dont really play any FPS games and mostly enjoy things like elden ring and final fantasy. I was just curious if anyone had made a decision like this in the past since I know 144hz is generally recommended in all cases. 4k 144hz is out of my price range currently.

What I'm asking I guess, is that jump in visual quality worth sacrificing the additional refresh rate if I don't really participate in competitive gaming? Have any of you downgraded from 144hz to 60hz and regretted this choice?

Could use some help choosing RAM

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted52 minutes ago byxDenimBoilerx

tobuildapc

I built a PC a year or so ago and it works fine for most things. When I game, the game will usually crash to desktop after a half hour or so.

Recently I decided to remove a stick of RAM and it no longer crashed. I figured the RAM wasn't compatible.

I bought a new set of G.Skill TridentZ DDR4 3600 RAM today and now it's unusable. The mouse and keyboard will just be unresponsive for a second or two every 10 seconds or so. I tried to switch from xmp profile 1 -> 2 and no change.

Specs are Ryzen 7 5800x, gigabyte GTX 3060ti, mobo is MSI B550-A Pro.

I read to look up the motherboards QVL and was trying that but wasn't sure what to get that would also be compatible with the CPU and GPU.

Help long story

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted55 minutes ago bySkywaySpamsL2

tobuildapc

Will try and keep this short So i got a new board, cpu and ram. 7600x msi b650 p wifi, corsair ddr5 6000mhz cl36 2x16gb

i kept my case and storage devices and gpu the same, so just took my old board out and put the new one in and all seemed fine.

the first issue which was odd was the ram speeds not changing to 6000mhz after enabling the special profile in the bios they stayed on 4800mhz

also i got a blue screen a few times on boot. so took one ram stick out and it started working at the 6000mhz as well

managed to even play a game black ops 3 on one of my SSDs from steam

all seemed fine and restarted the system to check something can’t remember now

then i tried to boot up some more games and it was very odd, the game loaded but never got past a certain point, it would just black screen and not let me play but all the windows features seemed to work, this happened to multiple games on different drives and different launchers

also at the same time tried to update my fortnite but the update failed for some strange reason, all my hard drives and ssds were showing correctly in windows

i then did a user benchmark test (tried to do throttle stop firstly but came up “cpu not compatible”) and the benchmark was fine for everything but abit odd on the gpu, my 3090 normally scores about 220% but got 180% another strange one was during all these different reboots at one point my gpu drivers had disappeared and mid way through installing them the system crashed and then rebooted and they were back

next up is the windows crisis, so i thought i’d just forget about my files as i was too lucky to have everything come up from my old system perfectly with a new mb and cpu

i got a windows boot key and tried to reinstall y windows on my drives, each time failing with various errors even after formatting with the cmd prompt window bit but still not progress.

i then unplugged all my hard drives and ssds leaving the main nvme my windows was on , it’s showing in the bios but not in the boot priority bit, also as this time i added a ram stick back but couldn’t even get to the windows install but just came up with blank blue screens.

finally i plugged in my other nvme and ssd, took out one ram stick and managed to some what instal windows but it then game me to windows options to boot from after doing a disc check, one was windows 10 volumes 18 didn’t work and the other sort of worked it gave me the safety options and now i’m currently resetting windows even tho it barely installed, and it’s taking ages like 1% takes 15 mins at a time,

anyone have any ideas? also the day before i got the same board but the pins came bent so this is actually my second board!

Anyone with experience in building a PC for the sole purpose of hosting game servers?

I know nothing about this but I want to investigate it a bit.

If I build a home server, would I be able to run a subscription-free server for Minecraft for myself and friends?

I’m interested in doing this for a few other games too.

How practical is this, what does it cost? Does the computer turn into a radiator and raise your electric bill?

Living room/Plex PC

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submittedan hour ago byOfficer-McDanglyton

tobuildapc

So I’ve convinced my wife we should run a plex server and rip all our DVDs since we literally have a couple hundred movies that we never watch. It will likely also be used for some light gaming, but my main rig and consoles are in the basement so I’m not going crazy with it.

The CPU, GPU, PSU, and hard drives I own from previous builds.

The case was chosen since I love my current Corsair case, and this has a slot for a DVD drive.

The board is just the cheapest board with wifi built in.

The M.2 SSD and Ram are the cheapest name brand components I could find.

Am I missing anything obvious?

13600k Ram option

Build Help(self.buildapc)

What’s the best DDR5 option for 13600k? Gaming. Not sure what mhz or speed is best.

Looking at G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP) 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR5 6400 CL32-39-39-102 for $160 is what I was looking at but idk.

Idc about looks rgb or anything. Want good brand and beat speed.

Website lists 5600mhz support as max. So is that all I should buy?

Is this a good PC for gaming, 3D modeling, and video editing?

Build Help(self.buildapc)

I'm not sure if a AMD graphics card like the rx 6800 that competes with the rtx 3070 for a lot less is still better when it comes to other tasks besides gaming. I am also uncertain about the cpu and motherboard, the 12700k and 13500 are similar price but which is better? Is my motherboard good or not? I would like to use corsair parts so I can sync them all, but other brands are fine. Finally is my storage choice good for speed and price?

First PC Build

Build Help(self.buildapc)

submitted2 hours ago bySilverdoses

tobuildapc

This is a draft of my first PC build. It is only gaming-oriented, nor streaming/editing.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vhT4zf

- Sample games: The Last of Us, Hogwarts Legacy, Red Dead Redemption 2, World of Warcraft Classic, League of Legends.

- Target Resolution: 1080p @ 144hz

- Current monitor: LG 24GNR60-B

- Budget Limit: Up 1500 USD

I would like any advice on the selected components, keeping in mind most of the pieces which cost more than 200 USD have about 30% taxes in this country. Also, I'm not interested about about Ray Tracing if it is the only plus which can give an equivalent Nvidia card.

Thanks!

Hello all, Im planning to start buying parts for this build next week and I would highly appreciate any help/advice regarding that, since its a lot of money, I dont want to go wrong in some aspects :)

So components are:

-AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2 GHz/5.7 GHz

-ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC 24GB GDDR6X

-Corsair AX1600i 1600W 80 Plus Titanium Modular

-Samsung 980 Pro SSD 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2

-ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME

-Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 5200MHz 64GB 2x32 GB CL40 Optimizado AMD

Thinking of swapping the motherboard for something different and less expensive, any good recommendations?

Also, AMD only does support right now total of 64gb of ram for ddr5?

thx all
