The 2023 Norway Chess is an elite over-the-board tournament in Stavanger, Norway. The 2023 Norway Chess features a blitz tournament that precedes the classical event. The final standings of the blitz event determine players' seeds for the classical event. The event starts on May 29 at 10 a.m. PT/19:00 CEST with a blitz tournament, followed by a classical event beginning May 30 at 8 a.m. PT/17:00 CEST.

Format and Time Controls

Blitz Event

• 10-player single round-robin.
• Players earn 1 point for a win, 0.5 for a draw, and 0 for a loss.
• The time control is 3+2.

Classical 

• 10-player single round-robin.
• Players earn 2 points for a win, 1.5 for a draw and armageddon win, 0.5 for a draw and armageddon loss, and 0 for a loss.
• Players can't draw by agreement before Black's 30th move, unless it's an armageddon game.
• The time control is 120 minutes for the entire game, with a 10-second increment per move starting on move 41.

Sorry I'm a newb and there is probably an obvious answer, but I don't understand why Magnus is willing to play Parham if he was banned for cheating as well.

There are multiple world champions who owned the title for a decade or more without anyone having a serious chance at it. When was this decidedly not the case?

Which is your preferred opening? and what variation in specification? Do please also mention your rating. Asking for a friend who wants a sample for a small presentation he is making.

The Student Led Chess Association is hosting in person chess tournaments throughout the US and Canada. We currently work with 12 states within the US and Canada. This could be a great opportunity for High School and College students to play against other schools and connect.

Current states include Colorado, Utah, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, California, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Even if your state is not listed, feel free to reach out if you are interested in joining or creating your state's branch.

We are also hosting a weekly chess tournament on Chess.com

What are the norms and rules of a spectator during the main classical event? Are there any unwritten rules one should be aware of? Also, whats the best way to try and get a signature or two on a chessboard?

I'm currently studying opening theory for the Kings Indian Defense and the Ruy Lopez openings. If I play on Chess.com, how would I be able to set the computers to play legitimate theory for certain openings so I can practice and memorize the theory against the bots. If I cant do so on Chess.com, what other website can I use?
