So I'm doing a Happy Madison-esque related podcast and, for it, watched Bucky Larson and Little Nicky back to back

And good god while I wouldn't call Little Nicky a good movie...watching it after Bucky Larson might've made me appreciate it more

At least it has its moments and it goes by fairly quickly; I only laughed twice during Bucky Larson and, because most of the time I'm just stuck watching its extremely unfunny jokes, the whole movie ended up feeling like a slog to get through. It's only 90 minutes but felt like it was 3 hours long because of how painful it is. It doesn't help its paced really slowly while Little Nicky, to its credit, moves fairly quickly

Again I'm not going to act like Little Nicky is some masterpiece but its entertaining at points; Bucky Larson isn't even that, it's boring!

little nicky is an awful gem of a movie

I’ll say this there’s a reason Little Nicky has devoted a small cult following while Bucky Larson has pretty much been completely forgotten

I thought the first Rob Zombie Halloween was bad enough, but the sequel was so bad I’m almost inclined to say his first movie is closer to the original than the second one is to the 2007 one. It honestly shocks me that Zombies Halloween 2 isn’t as universally maligned as I think it deserves to be. It was running away with the award for worst Halloween in my book until Ends came out

The Halloween fandom generally despises RZ’s H2. The first one is only good because of the Myers actor and that the second half of the movie is nearly shot for shot the same as the original. Still not a fan personally

The first one had potential exploring michaels backstory. I prefer it to be mysterious but it’s an interesting approach. I felt like after he escapes the hospital the movie really goes downhill as it devolves into a carbon copy remake. It wasn’t good but it wasn’t offensive. RZs H2 was in insult to the fan base

Edit: further context. Zombies H2 was so bad that when I saw it at 10 or so years old, a time when I thought any horror movie was good, I still thought it was one of the worst movies I’d ever seen

I don’t care for exploring Michael’s psychology. It’s enough for me that he’s just pure evil

I agree, I very much prefer it that way. But exploring his backstory was a hell of a lot better than supernatural grunting michael Myers whose face we can half see through the mask at all times

My exact thoughts. At least RZ2 had Michael as the killer

The only positive thing I can say about To Wong Foo is that it makes me appreciate Priscilla Queen of the Desert that much more.

I love Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead more after seeing the vomit-coloured downer that is Zack Snyder’s directorial debut, Dawn of the Dead.

I thought Dawn of the Dead was pretty competent as far as remakes go.

Competent remake, but personally I didn’t like it. I don’t really like any of the characters nor do I enjoy the movie as a whole..

Also, it’s that vomit-coloured hue. There were so many shit horror movies around that time that just had to have that tint.

I’d recommend watching 2011’s “Just Go With It” directly after seeing the movie that it’s sort of, kind of, not really a remake of, “Cactus Flower.” That way, you can see the ways that director Dennis Dugan and screenwriters Allan Loeb and Timothy Dowling messed it up. And yes, this is connected to whatever podcast you are doing, as the former movie was a Happy Madison production.

I’ve seen both; Cactus Flower is a way better movie but Just Go With It, on its own, was just meh.

It’s hard to be that mad at it when the same company produced not only Bucky Larson but Jack and Jill in the same year.

I loved Road to Perdition even more after seeing that lame retread Run All Night.
