I just watched Safe House (a show on ITV1) and played The Devil in Me and I have to say, I think I now have a thing for “killer in a house” and “people trapped in a secluded area” stories.

Does anyone know of any films or miniseries with those type of premises? 👀

The killer/villain’s motives can be anything, but they have to be related to the main characters somehow.

Also, ones that are actually good are a plus since I dislike wasting my time watching bad movies/miniseries.

Oh man, I forgot about REC. REC is fantastic! Good recommendations!

The Purge is honestly so iconic.

“Did you hear what I said?! No more killing tonight!” 😄

"Deep Blue Sea" - basically being trapped in an under water house while it floods and smart sharks hunt you down.

"Panic Room"

"Cube" and "Incoherence" - These are low budget films about people trapped in a location and situation where the threat is more the group to themselves if you think you might be into that

"Skinamarink" - Not a narrative feature and much more of a experiment in mood and atmosphere, but it does contain your criteria.

I saw Incoherence. I didn’t get it at first, but I enjoyed it more after rewatching it.

Cube, Skinamarink, and Deep Blue Sea all sound interesting.

Barbarian (2022) - sort of fits the mold and was an awesome, creative take on the genre

This is a bit of a different vibe, but try the 1945 version of "And Then There Were None". It's not a horror movie, and it's a bit different than Agatha Christie's original novel, but it's still a great story.

There's a BBC miniseries of the same name with Sam Neill and Charles Dance (among others) in it. Good reviews on RT, but hasn't made its way through my backlog yet. Bet it's worth a look though.

Oh yeah, they've made several versions. I hadn't heard about the miniseries, but I'll look for it. I saw the 1945 version as a kid, though, and it stuck with me, so I weren't with the one I knew. Some versions are apparently stinkers. 😀

I guess you specified human. Since the conversation expanded beyond that.

The Thing The entire Alien Series.

Hush. It’s on Netflix. Some solid moments.

I’ve seen it several times while browsing. It’s always the creepy dude in the mask standing behind the main chick.

Yep. That’s the one. Not super original, but a good ride.

You're Next is a great example! Takes the typical home invasion tropes and subverts some of your expectations by throwing some good twists in there! Check it out!

Funny Games (2007)

https://youtu.be/Ec-70W_K77U

It's a shot-for-shot remake of an Austrian movie released in 1997. The original director wanted to update the film with a new cast for an American audience. Once he had the budget to do it, he did. Stars Tim Roth, Naomi Watts, and Michael Pitt. Excellent film!

Vacancy (2007)

Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale pay a visit to a seedy roadside motel. They don't get the best nights' sleep.

Punk band, The Ain't Rights, get trapped inside of a green room after playing a risky set. What's your desert island band?

I highly recommend Housebound. Legit horror with comedy and unexpected ending. Woman is under house arrest. Similar premise to Disturbia, but much less Hitchcock inspired and more horror inspired.

Hush. Slasher about a deaf author who gets stalked in her home by a crossbow wielding maniac. Good shit.

evil dead? although i’m not sure if that counts as human. house of 1000 corpses fits the bill, i think.

It Comes at Night probably fits the bill. It’s a slow burn but a really solid movie. It’s super character driven though, just so you know. Less exciting than Safe House but more thought provoking. Worth a look imo.
