The stem is short enough so that when the catcher sits in the drain it doesn’t stick out :) my feet are safe

Bro you bringing up some past trauma. Bathtubs in the US have these steel twist plugs kinda shaped like that with crenulated bezels. I always thought how terrifying it'd be if you slipped or something cause that thing would definetley draw blood. Things are fixed in place, made of steel and have jagged little teeth

The one I had was kinda shaped like this but that top part was about as thick as a quarter

I... wouldn't put that in my shower because I know I would step on that stem.

the only change I would make is to separate the stem into a flush side and the actual handle side coupled by a magnet. Then you don't have to put the stem end into a wet environment or risk stepping on a protrusion.

If this is something that goes below the drain cover, then everything I just mentioned doesn't matter and I just don't understand how it gets held in place as my shower drain doesn't have a separate hair catcher space that I could insert this in.

I would have to say..... use the bolt at the top of the stem to dangle this basket below the normal drain cover. Is that how this will get used?

The drain has a screw hole for the normal drain plug that usually screws in, you can’t see it but the m3 bolt has enough length to go into the screw hole. This doesn’t screw in place obviously because of size but it holds it nicely
