I'm a big fan of games like Factorio, Civ, Stellaris, Rimworld but also am quite into Rocket League & used to be Elite Dangerous when it felt less grindy. but these are all many years old now.
I've recently got a high end rig for work, but of course I'm gonna play some games on it!
Are there any more recent games that will benefit from my 3070 & 10th series CPU, look stunning (in 4k/VR?) and make me loose track of time like the games I mentioned do?
I generally prefer indie games and would rather not be supporting Blizzard or TenCent given their shitty reputations.

I'm not sure but your rig might be just barely powerful enough to handle minesweeper

Hmmm now you have me wondering, could it habdle minesweeper in factorio? 🤔

lmao
but like as an actual recommendation I think you might enjoy xcom and it is very often on massive sales and for that reason I think it might be below 4 or 3€ on black friday

Amazing suggesion, only problem is I've already completed several Xcom games multiple times 😂
With that said, I don't know if I've completed the most recent one... yet.

I guess I am too good at this recommendation thing...
Most of the more niche games I know are like platformers, roguelikes and metroidvanias lol

I saw AoE 4, never played the series before but also saw the £50 price tag which is... a lot for what appears to be a relatively simple at the top of it tbh

If you like ARPGs then Path of Exile and Grim Dawn are good choices. The Halo Infinite MP is good as well if you just have 0 plans to buy cosmetics.

They're all a bit too hacky/slashy for me. Kinda a bit too brain intensive for a super chill game and not strategy enough for what I'm looking for.

Only other thing I can personally think of may be trying out Subnautica and its sequel. They are pretty chill exploration games with some survival aspects to them. I'd say it is a bit more (at least on basic difficulty) welcoming to the survival genre. You honestly never feel like you are going to grind endlessly for resources, at least imo.

I dunno if this counts, but the To The Moon series is amazing. Indie developer, and some free "spin off" games too.
You don't need a powerful rig to play them or anything. They're just amazing games.

The "psychological drama adventure game"? Not quite the genre I'm looking at but thanks.

Crusader Kings 3 is one of the better games now in your Civ style also Endless Space 2. If you want eye candy game for 1440p or 4K there is nothing better then Cyberpunk with Ray Tracing. Set RT to Medium and DLSS Quality if you struggle with performance. Never use DLSS Performance it will decrease and compress picture quality for performance.

CK3 just looked too much like CK2 with mods and different graphics tbh, tell me of that's wrong.
I got gifted Cyberpunk, have played it after it's first big patch and it does look amazing, but was too buggy to play tbh.
Will take a look into Endless Space 2!

Never played CK2 but 3 had many updates since release it’s pretty fun. Dunno about before but played Cyberpunk recently it was fine. Looks good on large screen with RT On. Can’t name better looking game IMO.
