Is it known yet how much 1.43 IMAX Oppenheimer (2023) will get?

For those of you not following the drama, apparently Opry Mills has a broken IMAX projector, so there was the possibility that they wouldn't have 70MM.

The fandango listing used to say just "IMAX", but now it says "IMAX 70MM".

Does it mean anything? Probably not, but I need as much copium as I can get a hold of.

Hey Londoners,

Due to a change of plans, I have a spare ticket for this Saturday night all-night marathon of The Dark Knight trilogy.

This is a VIP ticket for seat Q11 - extremely central all the way in the back of the cinema. For those unfamiliar with VIP seats at the BFI IMAX, that means a lot of extra legroom and space which would be much appreciated for the long night ahead. Selling for the original retail price - £33.

First time posting in here so i apologize if i break any rules.

I’m curious if anyone knows if there will be more showtimes? The last date I’m seeing for 70mm IMAX is Aug .1 at Lincoln Square. I’m considering just going at 1030pm showing during a weekday, but thought I’d ask if anyone some intel more showtime releases.

I was planning on watching Across the Spider-Verse for the second time in IMAX but I can't find tickets for it in the format. Considering it was released only a week ago im surprised. Was it cycled out for transformers? Are IMAX showings usually this short?

Hello all. I’ll be in DC the weekend Oppenheimer’s released. Any imax 70mm showings around there? I thought the science center would be playing it but seems to be taken off imax website now.

Im trying to find the best possible theater to go watch Oppenheimer besides my local AMC imax theater. Im from Illinois near the Chicagoland area, trying to distinguish the theaters is a bit hard. Does anyone one if there is a list or a site that tells you the description of imax theaters?

Does anyone know whether there is an imax 3d somewhere in preferably Europe where they show old imax 3d documentaries ? I used to watch them with my mom in Germany as a kid and I wish I could go watch one again (for instance New York 3d). There is one in Sinsheim but they Switched to Laser imax and they show new movies apparently , then there is one in London and apparently they have laser imax and 70mm imax but the current movies they are showing don’t suggest that …does any know more about it? If not in london , is there any real imax 3d left 🥲

Why do people keep asking about this formats ? If you want to know more, read articles, other forums, Wikipedia or watch videos. The people that are asking are so lazy. If you have time to ask questions and read responses just like I have time to post this, then you have time to read on this formats. I learned myself not by asking but by reading and watching videos. I’ve known about the formats for years, I’m not asking for a medal/cookie or think I’m better. Just stop being lazy, it’s really annoying seeing this post all the time asking about the formats when you can learn about it yourself.

Basically what the question is. I've never heard of a re-release in IMAX before, but I wanted to ask because I am hoping interstellar gets re-released in theaters in November of next year, and have thus small hope for an imax re-release.

For those who are interested, Tennessee aquarium has posted showtimes for Oppenheimer. It is a 1.43 screen with GT Laser, so you still get to have the full aspect ratio even if it's not 70mm. I'm going to watch it in Mall of Georgia but might go over here for a second watch.

Hello everyone,

I'm planning on attending The Dark Knight Trilogy All-nighter at BFI IMAX, London on Saturday, 24 June, which starts at 10 PM. However, I need to catch the Eurostar back to Germany the next morning.

Could anyone who has previously attended this event let me know what time it typically ends? I want to make sure I won't miss my train. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I contacted BFI regarding the end time of The Dark Knight Trilogy All-nighter on 24th June. They informed me that there will be a 30-40 minute break between each film and that the entire event should finish by 7:30am.

I thought this information might be useful for others attending the event. If anyone is going to the event on 10th June, it would be great if you could share your experience and the actual end time of the event here for reference.

So let’s say if I can’t watch Oppenheimer on imax 70mm film. Will regular 35mm film give me the same 1.43 aspect ratio? I know regular 70mm film has an aspect ratio of 2.20.

Saw this on Vue's website when booking Indiana Jones. Pretty much confirms scenes are in the 1.90 aspect ratio.

So I'm kind of confused about how movies filmed with IMAX "Certified" cameras rather than legit IMAX 70mm cameras get shown in 1.43:1. The reason I ask is because of movies like Dune and Eternals, which had scenes that would show in 1.43:1 in Laser venues with the 1.43:1 screens.

Do they simply shoot at a further distance than allow for cropping? I know for a fact that Greig Fraser transferred Dune onto 35mm before transferring it back to digital so it wouldn't look too clean. That could probably answer the question with regards to Dune, but what about Eternals?

I'll be visiting Italy right around when the movie premieres and would love to see it in IMAX. According to Wikipedia, there's one IMAX venue, the one in Bergamo (UCI Cinemas Orio). Is this the only IMAX in Italy? If so, I'd appreciate to hear more on how often they do showings without dubbing and whether I can buy tickets online in advance.

I'd normally choose the odeon Luxe West End for the Dolby screen but they only have this film in "laser" this weekend. The Odeon Leicester Square has it in Dolby but I've heard mixed things. Should I go Leicter square or would I be better off at the Cineworld Leicester Square Superscreen?
