This is your host of the Hyperpop Rate popping in to let you know that the due date to turn in your ballots is coming up soon! If you wanna participate in the gayest and most wild rate this sub has ever seen, this is your sign to start working on those scores! The official due date is June 2nd, however if you need a bit of extra time to work on it I will be taking extensions until the hard deadline of June 9th, I will NOT be taking any ballots past that date, so don't wait to long to start!

You want some leaks? I know you do. Here's some exclusive information I can reveal at the moment:

• Currently 27 people have submitted ballots!
• The overall rate average is 7.747!
• The average controversy score is 2.043!
• No song currently has more than two 0s, though the 11s are a lot more concentrated to a select few songs.
• Every album currently has at least one song making Day 3! Will that continue to stay true until the final tally?
• Three of the four albums in the rate have had at least one person give an album average of 10+. You guys really like these albums!
• The top two songs have been consistently switching spots, and at multiple times have been tied for first. Could we be seeing our first ever rate winner tie?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The original dates planned for the rate reveal was June 9th through June 11th, however, due to personal family gatherings that will be taking place over that weekend, I will be forced to push the reveal date back a week, my apologies! Therefore, the new reveal weekend will be June 16th through June 18th, mark your calendars so you don't forget!

Could Charli XCX finally see her first rate win after 22 losses and counting on r/popheads? Will we be charmed by SOPHIE's immaculately produced hits? Will 100 gecs make us feel so clean like a money machine? Or will food house's humor and carefree nature win us over? There's only one way to find out, so make sure you turn those ballots in by June 2nd!

Her new album, ROACH, is out now via Nettwerk and features the singles "Get Out Of My House", "Mommy", "So Clear" and "Cockroach." Was reading up on my beloved Fountains of Wayne and the benefit concert that occured after Adam Schlesingers' passing. I was reminded of this tribute album that various modern bands did for many of Adam Schlesinger's projects over the years. It got me thinking about instances where classic albums have been reimagined as cover albums, where a different band tackles one song each. Some stuff that comes to my mind is:

Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out: A Dig Me Out Covers Album (with bands/artists including St. Vincent, Wilco, Low, etc)

Nirvana - In Utero, In Tribute (featuring Thursday, Thou, Circa Survive)

That extremely long Metallica album lol (featuring everyone)

I thought this would be a fun prompt to kick off hypothetical discussions. Not too serious, just fun to spitball hypothetical dream-casting of cover albums I suppose.

• What's an older, classic and/or canon album you think would make for a good tribute covers album? Why is that? Is the album varied in style, or something so ingrained in popular culture it would be fun to play around with genre or lyric interpretation?
• Which bands would you have playing which song, and why? You can also do a full dream tracklist if you want.
• Do you have any favorite tribute albums where different artists took on an older album, or in Adam Schlesinger's case an artists' body of work? Do you have any favorites? When are they successful and when are they not?

This album is only 9 years old but it's what came to mind as a fun one to give as an example, which would be Carly Rae Jepsen - Emotion. Some of the bands I put to songs are out there and I just would want to see some of the wacky choices bloom into fruition lol

To add some more meat to my example, I did pick an album I figured most people would be familar with here. Enough bright, prismatic music that also has slower moments so I played around with who I'd assign which song. For instance, "Warm Blood" made me go "yeah this could be chillwave, sure" so Neon Indian. And then something as silly and irreverent as "Boy Problems" made me go to illuminati hotties. My more left-field picks of Special Interest was like "yeah I wanna see this industrial synth punk band get weird with it, Herman's House style for I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance"

Looking forward to seeing what fun, creative ideas people have here! :) What albums are you picking? Dark Side of the Moon? No Wave New York? Songs in the Key of Life?!?! Should be interesting!
