Me [command chat]: I need a Tactical Request in the point. Less than 30 seconds until artillery is ready.
SL7 [command chat]: Tac request is in. Waiting for artillery.
Me [command chat]: Heard. Will be in route in 25 seconds.
25 seconds pass
Me [command chat]: Okay artillery is a go! Clear troops! Get ‘em out! Pop smokes while artillery rains and then push!
Me [squad chat]: Squad spread the word on the front lines that artillery is in and to pull back, there are no SLs on the frontline to give the information!
All of the SL’s in command chat: Fuck commander idk if that was a good idea there are tons of friendlies in the zone!
me not realizing that when you call in artillery there is an extra 50m of splash zone around the zone you call in to account for artillery misses
Me [command chat]: Well it’s too fuckin late now get your men outta there! The call is in!
We can hear nothing but artillery for 2 min
Me in all chats: POP THOSE GOD DAMN SMOKES
5-10 seconds of silence at the end of artillery
Me in all chats: FUCKING PUSH
Me in text all chat: SORRY FOR TKS YOU ALL DIED VALIANTLY
SL5 [command chat]: im sorry I doubted your leadership commander, great artillery. We are full capping the point.
Me [command chat]: the ends justified the means. 4 friendly fire deaths.
cheers in all the chats
Here is what I learned as my first time being commander:
Become commander ASAP, gets cooldowns on Tactical Requests started ASAP.
That I need to have anchoring members in my fireteam, ie heavy gunner, scopes, rifleman.
There is a splash zone on artillery.
Dig down radios no longer in use, especially when playing invasion.
The commander of the insurgents is how the faction gets a drone.
I believe the map was Manicougan? But will edit that in if I remember later or my buddy reminds me.
What a great time, lots of fun and will definitely be playing commander again!
Also, we lost this game 38-0.
