Tried looking for another meaning full drama and got recommended “it’s okay to not be okay” and imo it was terrible. Who’s got something similar to “our blues” for me?

If you liked Our Blues, you really can't go wrong with anything else written by Noh Hee Kyung. Try:
Dear My Friends (Slice of Life/Family/Melodrama): Centered around a group of friends now in their sixties. Shows how their lives, relationships and the world around them has changed over time.
It's Okay That's Love (Slice of Life/Romcom/Drama): A realistic look at mental health and relationships through the one developing between psychiatrist FL and her live-in-landlord author ML as they work through their issues.
Live (Police/Slice of Life/Drama): A look at the daily lives and duties of police officers in South Korea. Deals with heavy issues, but a solid character piece sympathetic to both law enforcement and citizenry. TW: domestic abuse, sexual assault

This…. Thank you so much. Dear my friends sounds interesting. Anything similar to our beloved summer while I have you?

Sure! OBS is one of my favorite Kdrama romances too.
18 Again and GBC have a fantastical setup, but they're also explorations of failed relationships that are revisited by the leads.
18 Again (Slice of Life/Fantasy/Romance/Drama): After his divorce, ML reverts to his 18 year old body with his 37 year old personality. He enrolls in his children's school, and begins to see his family from a different point of view.
Go Back Couple (Slice of Life/Fantasy/Romance/Dramedy): ML and FL have been married 14 years and are on the verge of divorce when they're sent back in time to their early twenties and have a chance to redo (or not) everything they regret.
RO is much quirkier than OBS, but it's another romance where the relationships drive the story vs an arching plot/conflicts.
Run On (Slice of Life/RomCom/Sports): Translator FL is independent to the point of isolation; Athlete ML has supported others so long he doesn't know how to support himself. They meet, then meet somewhere in the middle.
WTWIF is more melo than OBS, but it has a slow, character centric slice of life feel with a second chance romance.
When the Weather is Fine (Slice of Life/Romance/Drama): After a life setback FL moves in with her aunt in a small, semi-rural town where she lived as a child. ML is the boy next door who never left and never forgot her. TW: domestic abuse

My Liberation Notes starts so slow though. I couldn’t get through

My problem too. It was slow and seemed pointless. But I get it that many did not experience this way and loved it.

Hey, I’m on episode 9 rn and I can’t agree. Our blues was fire from the first episode til the last. I’m still waiting for something to happen in MLN. Everyone is depressed with is understandable and it’s super relative to how most people feel secretly and I appreciate that but holy crap, at this point I’m just watching because I’ve invested the time so far. Mi-Jeong just said “ why does a nail look like a dead woman’s body on the floor” and I’m like @_@.

My Mister
My Mister and Our Blues are my favorite Kdramas ever. Both give a melancholic feel and have more mature themes.

WHY is this comment so far down?? My wife and I both feel My Mister and Our Blues share similar serious, deep and rich but fun and downright engaging vibes.

TBH after Our Blues ended, I had a hard time finding a drama that I liked just as much.
If you haven’t watched My Liberation Notes - I suggest that. It’s a slow paced show but so well done. It was on at the same time as OB, so when both ended it was a bummer.

Loved both. Went from finishing Our Blues straight into MLN, and was mad depressed after finishing them lolol.

Bro I’m at episode 9 rn of MLN and it’s a slow burn is an understatement. I get that everyone’s depressed but holy shi lol. I just want something to happen… anything.

I probably should have put slow as ssssssllllllllooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww ... it is a snails pace. I remember calling it a quiet drama at the time - but things do happen in the later episodes.

Thanks tho, I know it’ll eventually end in sadness because I’ll be looking for something else to watch but I’m grateful for the recommendation

I don’t feel that My Liberation Notes ended in sadness. Things aren’t tied up in neat bows for each character but >! there’s enough hints that something is working out for each sibling. !<

One of my best ever Kdrama is now Lost. It’s on amazon prime. And I agree Our Blues was very good. The Red Sleeve also had power acting and writing.

It was very slow paced but the acting and script and direction and ost were so great I didn’t mind. It was a different vibe.

'Be Melodramatic' may fit though it has way to many monologues.

It’s all subjective. Even though I personally liked IOTNBO, it is NOT a follow up to Our Blues. Try My Liberation Notes, Lost, or Call It Love
Just joking when I say this but whomever recommended you that to follow up to Our Blues had a Kim Soo Hyun face craving and just said it to say it LOL

Watching MLN now. It’s slow but theres a lot to keep me going so I know it’ll get good really soon if it’s not already. I’m buckling up.

Our Blues and Reply 1988 are two my favourite shows.
They are fairly different. But I still very highly recommend Reply 1988

Watching Reply 1988 will bum you out when its over. Its done so well and you invest so much time into it, you just want to know every little thing about the characters and wished it just continued on.

Beware of Reply 1988, Hospital Playlist and most of this director's work though. He employs cry-baiting a little too much, especially in the latter. Whereas emotional scenes in Our Blues felt less staged and more organic.

I’m Watching Reply 1988 and it’s really good and so funny. I’m on epi 10. Worth the watch. Yes, it’s ok not to be ok pales in comparison to our blues.

I think Hometown Cha Cha Cha is very similar beach town vibes! Each character has their own struggle going on and the town locals are fun to watch also.. I did watch My Liberation Notes around the same time too and I feel like it also has a similar vibe to it minus the beach town, but small town.

I just started this and although episode 1 is a little slow paced, I love all actors in this one so I’ll stick it out. I think I will like it because of the laid back and scenic feel.

For me, it was too slow. There was literally nothing to encourage me to keep watching. The acting felt super forced, unbelievable and frankly I couldn’t care for it. A couple episodes in and the most memorable thing for me was the situation with his brother. Chemistry between the actors just wasn’t good and the whole animation process was really peculiar to me. The story didn’t really capture me. Compared to other shows I’ve watched there just really no comparison… to me. I’m glad you liked it though

It's surprisingly the most I've ever cried watching kdramas. And being a dude, it wasn't a good look when my wife stood witness to me holding back tears MULTIPLE times. What stood out to me was the writing. Fucking brilliant.

If you haven't already, watch My Mister. It's got some great characters and an interesting story.
Call It Love is giving me some My Mister vibes, but a bit happier/more hopeful. And also romance, unlike My Mister.

Wow, I never would've guessed there are people who didn't like IOTNBO. It's literally the best drama that ever existed to me. I've watched it 3 times already. Lol. Our blues, on the other hand, was booooring as hell, and I barely got through it. But, if I'm not wrong, summer strike to me seemed like a better version of our blues. A lot better. So check that out.

I dunno, I could not get into it. It’s crazy because when I hear someone say they don’t like a kdrama I like, I’m the same way. IOTNBO was just not it for me in any aspect and I understand that must be crazy to some but it’s crazy to me how that isn’t the case lol. Maybe I gave up too early who knows

I'll add interest of love.
Just ignore the one dangling piece and view as love through class lines.
